No overflow parking at Cornet Bay for the opening

The Cornet Bay launch will be open Tuesday as will the restrooms BUT.... the overflow parking will NOT. Usually the Park opens the road down to Hoypus to accommodate the crowds on an openings like Lingcod/Shrimp/Salmon/Crab.

The upper lot and the spaces next to the launch will be open. There will not be anyone counting users but tickets will be written for anyone without a launch permit

I'm a park volunteer and was asked by Jason Armstrong, the Park Manager, to help get the word out on this.

Please pass this on.

Dan, Thank you for passing this on to us. It would be really interesting if you would give us a note and let us know how the day goes. I had planned on meeting a group there on May 10 to park there for a week or two to do the Pre-Cruise before the May 14 meet at Friday Harbor. Do you have any idea if parking there for long term (a week or two) would even be possible this soon. I realize this is all a very fluid situation but maybe your best guess would do?

Unattended overnight parking is $10 a day + the Discover pass. There is currently no overnight moorage at any state dock or buoy.

We're about to find out What happens on Tuesday!! All I can say is I'm glad Plan C is moored at the County dock!!

Dan

Dan, thanks for that update. Will be waiting for the Tuesday report. I like that park dock and had planned on meeting a group there this week.

The trailer parking at Cornet Bay launch this morning was only 1/2 full! Maybe everyone's waiting until this afternoon for a better tide? (Low was .75 this morning)

OR, they are waiting for the 80* on Saturday and Sunday.

Thanks for keeping us updated.

I think most people fish on the weekend.
If people are out of work, they are prioritizing their budgets and recreation that costs money, ie boating and fishing are low.
Could be they are waiting for later in the day or for that slack tide. Fishing in Deception Pass for ling cod has a narrow window of time what with the current flows.
I'll be fishing next week and not on the weekend.

BTW, and for those who care, the 80° weather predicted for Seattle this weekend, is only predicted to be in the very low 70's in the islands near Anacortes. (I presume due to ocean breezes coming down the Strait.)
