Another Grand Adventure

Brenda and I plan to launch our boat "Falcon" at Kentuckey Dam State Park late Monday, 5/14/2012 and start our adventure by locking through the Kentuckey Lock to the Ohio River. Depending on time, our destination will first be Louisville, Ky. and the navigator's priorities.

Reading the C-Brats posts about the Ohio River the river may be more difficult than some rivers with grounding on sand bars etc. Anyone with advice please respond.

Hello:

The 11 Days on the Ohio River is now complete. Launching "Falcon" at Kentucky Dam State Park public access area with free parking for the truck and trailer, just register at the marina and receive a sticker showing departure and expected return dates.

Traveling up river against a noticeable current ( 2 to 3 mph) was easy as pie. Overnight the first day at the Harbor Light Restaurant dock, the public dock in Louisville, KY., and all other times anchoring out or beached on a sandbar.

Louisville, KY. was the only city along the 374.1 mile river trip with a free public dock. A large cuddy cabin type boat docked late and those young people parted all night but did not disturb the old couple on a cute little C-Dory one slip away. Other cities indicated public access but their facilities had been removed or washed away. Louisville, KY. is a short walk from the dock to everything, food, The Kentucky Center, shopping, music, theater, traffic, and the big city atmosphere.

Trying to find a complaint with 50° to 80° temperatures, 6 locks and dams, a big wide river flowing along easy with no wind is hard to find, just a nice cruise that all.

Where will the next adventure be? There are many places to see in this different way.
