Thanks for starting this thread. It gave me the impetus to do a little research. That kind of stinks that you can't get one thru Cummins NW. But, if you could, it would be $63 for the cartridge filter. The original filter off my engine has a Mopar part number:
05015171AA

I was able to cross reference this at wixfilters.com. Here are the applications:

Make Model Engine
AUDI A8 V8 4.2L 4172cc
AUDI A8L V8 4.2L 4172cc
AUDI Q7 V8 3.6L 3562cc
AUDI S8 V8 4.2L 4172cc
PORSCHE CAYENNE V6 3.2L (24V)
PORSCHE CAYENNE V6 3.6L 3597cc
VOLKSWAGEN EUROVAN V6 2.8L 2771cc
VOLKSWAGEN EUROVAN V6 2.8L 2792cc
VOLKSWAGEN GOLF/GTI V6 2.8L 2792cc
VOLKSWAGEN GTI V6 2.8L 2792cc
VOLKSWAGEN JETTA V6 2.8L 2771cc
VOLKSWAGEN JETTA V6 2.8L 2792cc
VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT V6 2.8L 2792cc
VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT W8 4.0L 3999cc
VOLKSWAGEN PHAETON W12 6.0L 6000cc
VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG V6 3.2L 3200cc
VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG V6 3.6L D.I. (24V)
VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG 2 V6 3.6L D.I. (24V)

From these, we should be able to get set up and I'm hoping they'll be less than $63.... But, judging from the list, maybe not....

The good thing is it's very easy to change the oil on these boats. You will need some kind of pump with a female garden hose fitting. I have a vaccum style pump that looks like a garden sprayer, but it works in reverse as it creates a vacuum instead of pressure. Draining the oil is a simple process and access to the filter is right under the cabin step.

Good luck and let us know about that filter.
Thanks,
Tim

More info. I also saved my old filter and just took measurements. For the QSD 2.0 150hp, we want the WIX 51212.

Cummins is real fussy about oil filters in the Dodge truck application. If you do not use a Fleetguard(Cummins) or Mopar filter your warranty may be void in a failure caused by a failed filter.
Some of those "Mickey Mouse brand" filters are not much more than toilet tissue stuffed into a tin can.

Just a heads - up.

I told him via email to try Williams Oil Filters in Tacoma. One thing
for sure Wix filters are not junk toilet paper specials. I think they make
filters for a lot of brand names. For the R21 engines I found a lot of
other parts would work fine and be a lot less expensive than dealing with
Yanmar and I don't mean Fram from Walmart quality. I got the impeller
from Fisheries and filters from Williams but Yanmar had the service book
and got the kings ransom for it. Just my thoughts.. Bob Heselberg

There are two different sets of Cummins seriel numbers and if your boat was built after february it does not have the mopar oil cartridge, it has a MAHLE filter that is even harder to get a hold of. They changed something on the oil cooling system and that required a different oil filter system (the MAHLE is smaller in diameter and in height aprox. 2 1/2" wide X 3 1/4" tall).

Cummins NW told me on thursday afternoon that they have Fleetguard building one and it will be more readily available than the MAHLE filter. So if your filter says MAHLE on it then call Cummins NW for the filter 425-235-3400 I have been dealing with Randy Day.

They have some of the MAHLE filters in stock, but they say the Fleetguard filters will be more reasonable.
