OsmAnd, A GPS and Map App

OsmAnd, A GPS and map app that I am using on a Samsung tablet. It's nice system as no data is used when traveling. I works off the devices internal GPS.

I am looking for anyone else who is using it to bounce some ideas and questions off of. Someone here on the Brat site got me started with it several years ago, and (sorry) I forgot who.

OsmAnd is free with up to 5 state maps. OsmAnd+ is a pay app that lets you have more states and updates. It's in the Play Store if you want to look. (I am not promoting this app, I'm just a basic user.)

Here is a link to the features page of the free app.

Bringing this back to the list. Still hoping for a user contact. It is great app IF your device has a (REAL) GPS inside. I have used this when I have been days away from phone service, and it still finds me.

Maps.ME (Android) is the offline mapping app I use. It does not have nautical charts though.

I think bought the "pro" version for $9.99. "Maps are free, forever."

For nautical charts (in the US) I use MxMariner. It allows downloading of NOAA chart regions for offline use.

OsmAnd+ ( the + equals the pay version), also about $10 does have nautical charts. I have used them to look at when off the water but not for on-water navigation.
