My Port Tilt/Trim quit working suddenly this morning. Launched yesterday and it worked fine, brought both engines up last night at the end of a cruise and now the port one won't go back down.
The electric motor runs, but nothing happens. According to the manual, there is a manual relief valve but if it was open, I could push the motor down and I can't. Hard to check the oil in the water so I'll probably have to pull the boat again.
I have a spare unit that I've removed from El and Bil's old 40 that looks fine and I'm pretty sure it'll fit (the 35's, 40's, 45's and 50's are all identical frame wise).
What I don't know is if it's possible to remove that with the engine still on the boat. There's a zinc holding both frame arms at the very bottom of the mount that, when I removed it, it allowed the old one on my parts engine (thanks again El and Bill) to slide out easily. Don't know if that will happen on the boat with both arms bolted firmly to the transom. The manual says to lay the engine on the right side to remove this. Obviously I can't do that with the engine on the boat :disgust
Anyone know if it's possible with the engine still on the boat?
It could be an oil problem and I'll check that first. It uses ATF fluid according to the manual. There's also a "drive pin" that the electric motor engages the hydraulic pump with, that could be sheared.
Anyone?
BTW, the old problem with the Stbd Engine not making full RPMs is no more. I didn't change anything, it just fixed itself...
