R25 with no trailer - issues?

What would the issues be in having an R25 and not owning a trailer? My plan would be to get covered moorage in Puget Sound and haul it twice a year for maintenance. I'm wondering how accomodating the various marinas might be in helping me haul it and dry moor it for the maint work.

As always, all advice greatly appreciated.

A lot of the yards accomodate doing the work yourself. I used to rent space at SeaView West over in Ballard. I would guess most of the others do as well. They make good money from hauling the boat and doing the pressure washing. They will charge you for blocking it up and let you do what you want, as long as space is available. I have even lived aboard while in the yard, but it isn't recommended.

That is exactly what we do in Edmonds. You can use sling time or, they take the boat across the street to the yard where you can reserve as many days as you want for maintenance. We find our 60 min. of sling time, which includes a power wash, works for washing and waxing the hull and changing the zincs.

I believe they also affer this service for boats not moored here.

All over the country there are marine ship yards, which haul boats, and repaint the bottom. Once a year is par. But I suspect that one cannot scrub the bottom of the boat in Washington....

Be sure that the outboard is out of the water as much as possiable. Put a special alunimum bottom paint on the motor parts (bracket which may be in the water. Keep any copper bottom paint 1" from the engine bracket.
Put 30 miles of epoxy on the bottom before the first two coats of bottom paint.

I don't know about anywhere else but when I made plans to take my TC to EQ for service, they wanted it on a trailer so they could take it into their shop. So for warranty work that might be an issue.

You can double check with Andrew at the factory, but it is my understanding, that they will come to the boat to do warranty work if necessary. Also, Edmonds treats the water from the sling area, so we are able to wash down our hull.

Whatever works best for you Tim is fine. Just a couple things: The 25 is very very easy to launch. I do it by myself once a week. If you don't mind dealing with your marina at there convenience, than not having one is fine to. I definitely have been seen on a couple customers boats taking care of a couple small issues. Our Dealer (Skippercress) has a very very good warranty crew in Friday Harbor and Anacortes. Any other questions you may have feel free to email me at andrewcustis@rangertugs.com
Hope this helped out and maybe we will see you soon!
