Does anyone know a source for a rearview mirror to install near the helm station/front window?
I've seen them on ski boats and they are foldable.
I'll keep looking in the Auto parts stores.

I use the CIPA 4x8 convex suction cup mirror from Overton's next to the helm on my 25 cruiser. Plenty of adjustment, it works great, you just need a smooth place to mount it.

Passing thought/hint:

The closer you mount the curved mirror to your own eyes, the larger will be the view of the rear, and the more useful it will be, but be sure to keep it clear of any head movement, intentional or accidental!

Good advice. I have mine mounted on the Stbd end of the overhead shelf. A curved rectangular mirror. Can't see out the back much past the OB's but I can see if there is still someone in the cockpit, which is what it is up there for.

Got mine at Baxters Auto parts, Port Angeles.

Thanks much for the quick responses, vendor source, and mirror placement info!

I think the mirror will help with the stern 'blind spots' and approaching boats from the rear which I don't often hear over the O/B, etc.

I'll give it a try soon. I like the adjustable 'suction cup' mirror design.

We have this adjustable mirror I bought at Wally World or some place for something like $5.99. It has a magnification side so you can see your black heads close up and a regular mirror on the other. You can hang the dang thing around your neck or from a hook or set on a flat surface, and it works great as a rearview mirror when coming into port. It’s nice to know when to hold on and brace yourself just before a deep-V blasts buy doing 40+ mph.
 
We use a ski boat rear view mirror, very convex and about 6 inches across. It sits on a block of mahogany that has a non-skid foam on the bottom and is by the center window. We like to be able to pick it up and move it out of the way. It has been very helpful and easy to use. I am not sure I would want to mount one permanently.
 
I will add my 2 cents worth on a review mirror. I bought a wide angle ski mirror from West Marine. The suction cup was hard plastic and it would not stay stuck to the smooth surface of the console. I took a pine 2/4 and cut the corners round, fastened the mirror with screws, bought soft silicon suction cups from AC Moore (try Michaels or Wal-Mart also). I drilled holes into the bottom of the 2/4 and inserted the suction cups. The holes drilled were just smaller than the suction cup base. I took it apart and then stained and added a polyurethane finish. Resembled and put it on CHARITY. It works very good and I can see who is gaining on me.

We find our radar is the best rear view mirror when with heavy traffic or in narrow stretches.

I attached a strip of Velcro to the bottom of my radio and the other strip to a convex mirror designed to eliminate blind spots on car sideview mirrrors. The convex mirror is attached when needed and gives a nice wide view behind me when needed. Easily stored when not in use.

My mirror, mounted on the shelf is too high to see very far out back, mostly for watching the cockpit activity only. RADAR keeps track of what is running up behind me.

Mirror $l0, RADAR $?$?$?$, Not getting run over by some mega airhead go fast, >>>>>That's PRICELESS
