Replacement Fuel Tank

Hello, looking to replace the fuel tanks on our 1994 22 foot angler. The previous owner took out the originals and replaced them with 12 gallon metal tanks and no way to read fuel level. My preference would be two translucent tanks both larger than 12. Another thought would be to install one larger tank opposite the kicker for balance.

Looking for advice on tank placement and size as well as where to find them?

I was reminded today to be skeptical of 30-year-old parts on my C-22 when my wife reported that we had no steering. Luckily we were only at hull speed and I was able to rig a tiller.

The fuel tanks also appear to be original also-brown plastic 20 gallon tanks. Does anyone have experience with plastic tank longevity? The senders are also bad, so new translucent tanks would be great, but I am balking at the $500+ price for a new pair of tanks.
 
I just bought two new 23 gallon ones for my 2004 22' cruiser. I bought then from C-dory in Bellingham, WA. They were $440 each. I believe they are made by dramatic. I believe most boat shops would have access to a catalog with different size ones and different shapes. I know fishery supply in seattle has a large selection.
