The Rope ALong Product Website show two sizes....the small one handles up the 3/8 Rope and the large model handles 1/2" Rope....Most boater will have 1/2" Line on board and if you need to lift something...you better have the rope and tool to do the job the first time....so my 2 cents worth is...GO BiG or stay at home.

One item to remember, especially if you are using nylon rope--slightly less with dacron line--is that if the fitting gives or something breaks, there is a lot of elasticity (not present with steel cable--and that is why I use a "come along" with steel cable. Consider a 10", 5 lb deck cleat hitting something at about 50 miles an hour! Never stand in a place where you might get hit!

Right on Bob! I've (unfortunately) seen an 8" Nylon hawser take off both the legs of a deck seaman when it parted. Not pretty.

Keep away from Nylon (or Dacron for that matter) under extreme tension!!
