Rub rails on C-Dory 16

If by popping off you mean the rubber is bulging out of the track, it is really no big deal. The easiest way is to get a heat gun (spelled hair dryer) and warm up the bulging rubber and push back in place (faster with a rubber mallet). Better placement of the fenders will help prevent it in the future.
Good Luck!

My son had an older Sea-Ray and replaced the rub rails. His boat was about 24 foot and he had a little trouble getting rails long enough, but a special order from West Marine did the job.

He removed the old bent and beat rub rails by drilling the rivets. Then he filled the holes with epoxy filler and installed the new rails. I can't remember if he used pop rivets or self tapping SS screws. It took both of us to hold the rail around the curve of the bow, but it was only a 3 or 4 hour job and the results made the boat look like new.
