Tomorrow I will once again be running the Ragnar Relay. The race runs from Blaine to Langley, 188 miles, 12 people each running 3 legs of approximately 5miles ea. My team will start at noon on Friday 7/22 (tomorrow) and should finish around 11AM on Saturday. The course map can be found at this link. I'll be running legs 10, 22 and 34 (at about 6:30PM, 1:45AM and 9:20 AM). If you're out and about in the area, look out for runners and be careful. If you see me out there, wave hello.

Roger-

Good Luck, Bud!

Wish I were up there and could do it with you!

Take care and be careful with your knees and hips!

I'm just thankful I can walk around after 10-12 years of running back in the '70's and '80's. And now I've got a titanium hip to prove it!

Go get 'em, and have fun!

Joe. :thup :smiled

Good luck Roger,

I see that leg 34 has you finishing in our home town and we would be there to cheer you/revive you but for the fact that we will be at the other end of the Island in Bowman bay hosting our yacht club fun day.

Like Joe I am finding now feeling the effects of a youth spent running and bike racing but my feet still twitch when I see a race.

stay safe,

Merv

My team finished the race in 24hours and 1 minute. For a 188 miles, that averages to 7:40/mile. I ran my three legs of 3.1, 4.2 and 4.3 miles at paces of 7:25, 7:44 and 7:52/mile. The weather was beautiful - clear and sunny during the day with a high of maybe 78 on Fri. The evening was cool and also clear with a low of around 52. We were treated to great views of Mt. Baker and the Cascades and a nearly full moon shone on us during the night time legs. The view from Deception Pass Bridge around 3AM Sat was spectacular. The moon was setting to the west and the water below it was calm and sparkly. I'm still a little tired today but that's nothing an afternoon nap can't fix. I had a great time and am already looking forward to next year's race.

One consequence you might not have known about, you knocked the ham net that David and I do each morning off our usual repeater, the Lyman repeater at 145.19 MHz, because the Radio Amateurs of Skagit County needed the frequency for race commnications. We switched to another repeater on Mount Constitution and now we are back to Lyman...but it was kind of interesting listening to the net coordinating the race.
