This group has a really fun event with maybe 70 boats and over 100 vetrans. It is 1 day and what a blast it is and a great way to thank our wounded soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

They are looking for captains and their boats to volunteer. I did it last year and will be happy to volunteer this year.

I attach a little info for anyone interested. Check it out.

The 2nd Annual Salmon for Soldiers Fishing Event to be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 is fast approaching.

With the huge success of last year’s event, we are experiencing significant interest and sign-ups by soldiers and their caregivers to participate in this year’s event. We expect the number of soldiers and their caregivers participating will exceed last year’s levels and all soldiers that sign up for the fishing event deserve to go fishing!

To make that happen, Salmon for Soldiers needs your help in two areas:

1. Financial Support – On the Salmon for Soldiers website (www.salmonforsoldiers.com), we now have the ability to collect individual donations for the event. Please consider making a personal donation to the cause (click on the Donate tab on the bottom of the Home page or click on the DONATIONS tab). Any dollar amount you can afford will go a long way in supporting our wounded heroes. It is really all about the soldiers…Where the Mission is Fishin’! *

2. Volunteer Boat Captains & Their Crews – Boat captains and their deck hands wanting to participate in the event should send an email to Dave Davenport (Daveyd6998275@yahoo.com) for the Boat Owner Sign Up Sheet.

For those wanting more information on Salmon for Soldiers, please visit www.salmonforsoldiers.com. If you are looking for a little inspiration, please watch the video from last year’s event (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn4QWKd635w).

Thank you PSA members in advance for supporting Salmon for Soldiers!

Chromer,

Sounds good!

Last year we all gathered ai the Marina just So of the Everett boat launch and after a flag ceremony we climbed aboard and headed out to find the fish. What a sight

Must have been 70 boats all working to get out of the breakwater. We all started out probably 4 knots or less, but as we were lined up maybe 5-7 abreast in multiple rows the speed began to pick up. By the time we passed the Coast Guard station we were creating some waves and probably around 7-8 knots. As we passed the end of the breakwater the guys pretty much put the hammer down and who knows, I passed a few boats doing 10- 15 knots and others passed me as I held it back to about 23 knots. What a rush!

We started trolling maybe 10 minutes later mid channel approaching the shipwreck and bingo we had 2 coho in the boat within about 20-25 minutes. Slowed down and finally wound up with 3 fish, one for each vet. Then weigh- in followed by prises and a barbeque.

Then home, tied ,but really feeling good.

Gary

I will be entering my boat this year . I just have not signed up yet. Talked to someone about it at a fishing seminar last month. I think I can handle a wheel chair in my boat. Lots of deck space. I can take at least two vet.

Frequent-C wiil be out there. Well, disguised as a Hewes though. As the c-dory wont be ready for a couple weeks. I will introducer her formerly once she occupies my driveway. I did this event last year and will continue to do it as long as I have a boat, access to a boat or can swim with downriggers attached.

Good luck to all and have fun!

But you could learn. I'd be happy to teach as would many other brats. :)

Roger,

Thank you for the kind offer. It is something I have not done until the last 2 years I have been out twice, and would like to take it on. time has been the issue. That may not be the same much longer. AND, it is a really good excuse to spend more time on the water.

Thank you again, I know you would be a great teacher. :thup :thup

Hey, that's our boat! Cool photo and event.

I need some tech help on saving the photo. I right clicked, but can't get it to "copy" or "save to".

Any help would be appreciated so I can put the photo in an album.

Thanks!
