Say a little prayer

For those who have visited our home, and met Marie's mother, Tootsie Dalton, I regreat that she passed on today at about 5:30 PM CST.

Tootsie was a most remarkable woman. She adopted Marie and her sister Robin, when each of them were at age 11. She gave more to these ladies than most "natural" mothers give. She was a high school English, English Literature and Journalism teacher for over 30 years. She also wrote and produced a play each year involving each member of the senior class, and then used the proceeds to take the entire senior class from Cornith MS high school to either New York City or New Orleans. She also was the person who any student could turn to in time of trouble.

During WWII, she was the secretary of the commanding general for that part of the Manhattan project which was conducted in Oak Ridge Tenn. Certainly some interesting tales of life at Oak Ridge and the highest of security.

She was recently named "Teacher of the Century" by Cornith High school. Tootsie was 93 years old and still could recite Chaucer and all of Shakespeare. She certainly enriched my life in may ways.

Bob,

Please know that Marcia and I have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. As a retired English teacher with 30 years under my belt, I can definitely appreciate your mother-in-law's love and dedication to her students and profession.

Regards,

Nick and Marcia

What a amazing person.

Bob,
Reading about Tooties life, her contributions to her students, family and the world in general was a very moving epitaph. Our condolences.

Bob and Marie,

We are the better for having known Tootsie, even as briefly as we did. It was immediately apparent when we were at your home how much love flowed amongst the three of you. We send our condolences, but are glad that she now is in a better place.
