Cant stand the drug or its users. Off soap box.

What a wide brush you paint with there, Tom. I wonder how many of your fellow veterans you just tossed into that pile of people you can't stand.

So - how do you feel about pot's far more destructive cousin, alcohol?

D.D.

While it is now no longer a crime for an adult to possess up to 1 oz of weed in Washington State, legal sales won't start till Dec 2013.

tobacco is worst and should be treated as an addiction

m2cw as a public health employee

No harm intended here I was just having some fun. I didn't mean to start up any referendums of the benifets of weed over alcohol. But I do think from a public health perspective tobacco is a really a bigger public health problem. The good news is that hopefully you left coasters will be smoking weed grown in the U.S. I read they were going to set up weed stores modeled after a liquor store type model. Got to hand it to you folks thats some progressive thinking, no sarcasm here. The crooks in Pa. would be fighting about who all was going to get a piece of the pie. Just think you folks can set up private clubs like in Amsterdam, bong tourism. Wow, man this is far out. Cheech and Chong will probably move up there. I really hope this works out. I saw they were having a big smoke out at the Space Needle Good fun. :smiled

Da nag, I dont care if they have served or not. Has nothing to do with the my statement or their drug use. Just because they and I served am I suppose over look any bad and destructive habits they have? Maybe I should not agree with everything other Realtor's do? No wait I have to devote my life to agreeing whole heartily with all boat owners, yeah that's the ticket. Make about as much sense as your statement. Not impressed with those that live to drink either, just for the record. I do have a beer/drink once in a while but I have not been drunk in years, just dont see the point.

That aside I think that legalizing pot is a big mistake and it will lead to no good for any one of us. And what really pisses me off is that now because of others stupid decision I ,and all of us, face the possibility of having my mouth swabbed for pot just because I swerved while driving and texting. I dont like it and I dont have to so there.;P

So hows fishing

Texting while driving is against the law in Pa. and probably is everywhere. It's killed a lot of people innocent and textsters alike.
If my sources are right pot smoking is now legal in your state. It looks like somebody is in the minority out in your neck of the woods. :P

Trouble is, Tom - you didn't say you disagreed with one's decision to use marijuana. You said you can't stand those who do. Do you see no difference between those two positions?

You didn't delineate between medical, recreational or habitual/destructive use. You lumped every single pot smoker, regardless of reason or other beneficial qualities that human might have, regardless of any contribution they ever made to society, into a group of people you have no use for.

I've zero problem with non-abusive marijuana use, whether medicinal or recreational. Still, even though most folks I know wouldn't personally partake - none that I consider friends, would dimiss somebody out of hand for that reason alone. For me personally, I'll look a little deeper into one's character than their opinion on or use of a plant.

Nice save...

People sure are making a big deal of this new law, pro and con. Pot has been around and in use for a long long time. Stupid as it is there have always been people driving or operating machinery or such under the influance and I really don't think changing the law is going to increase the numbers. I am not going to try to make any big predictions or anything, but I would not be at all surprised that in a couple of years studies show that pot use is down. You know,no longer the "forbiden fruit" And as for "hating the drug and its users" what about all the chemo patients that depend on it just to make their everday tolerable? Have had two such in my life and to them pot was a God send. My 2 pennies Take it for what its worth

Guys...Lighten up. Lets not get into another sour sniping match. It does no good and just poisons the atmosphere for all of us. We have learned to our discomfort that however "cute", posts about politics, race, social values, etc. invariably push somebody else's button and away we go. Sheesh!

No I dont.

No I dont. medical use is a scam. hell just get drunk you will feel better to. You have always be able to take the pill form for the same high. I can walk down the street here in everet and $25 be issued a medical use card by a "doctor".and so can any kid. just show the doc a fake ID. Just another scam.

It looks like somebody is in the minority out in your neck of the woods.

Being a minority or having a minority opinion has never been a sign that your wrong, just a sing that so many others are wrong.

Pot use more then once a week does have a slow but long lasting effect on your health and mind Dude.... My Aunt that never smoked cigs got lung cancer. Why? Oh I don't know maybe the four joints a day she smoked for years?
Poisoning your self is never a good idea.

As for friends and there habits. They dont bring it to my house or around me and I don't turn them in to the cops. sounds fair to me. And Yes I have ended friendships over it before.

Now I did not post to get in a blow by blow fight with anyone. i only stated what my response will be if the boat show chooses to allow pot there. nothing more.

If you can't catch fish and have no fish related post don't try to hide the fact by starting discussions you cant win  [/quote]

The first statement statement says you can't stand the users, the second statement refers to friends and there(sic) habits. So you have friends that you can't stand?

Well if we're keeping score....

Yes I cant stand that friends are users. If they insist on doing in front of me they are no longer friends. As for family Well they are family and they dont do it in front of me.

I would have posted my last fish but I did not have a wide enough lens!!!

this thread could use a toke or two.....

Agreed...

And Tom, ol' pal - my apologies for treading into a territory I routinely ask others to avoid. Let's have a nice, calm, friendly and rational discussion about this at the SBS.

I'll even bring the brownies.

Marijuana, for any use, is illegal under federal law and is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA).

To me this sounds like a legal limbo situation

This is the most interesting part of the situation, I think. We'll have to wait and see if the federal government respects states rights (WA and CO) or not.

To relate this to boating...

Since the Coast Guard is a federal agency, I suspect anyone with marijuana onboard their boat risks arrest and property seizure, regardless of WA State law.
