:D Hi C-Brats,

Marcia and I are picking up our new Venture 23 in a couple of weeks at Sportcraft Marina. We have been lurking :embarrased on this site for a few months, gathering information and making our buying decision. We're very impressed at the advice, assistance and information you share for those that have a love affair with their c-dories.

We're excited! Thanks for your help.

Hey, congratulations! I saw the 23 Venture at the SBS recently and came away impressed. Just enough bigger and wider to make a real difference, and the build quality, at least the unit I saw, was better than the 22 Cruiser. I'm curious as to what engine(s) you've chosen? Best, Mike.

Congratulations, it's a great boat for our area.
Hopefully we will still be able to use the boats on Lake Cachuma, if they don't close it to private boats like Lake Casitas did- due to the quagga mussel invasion.
Keep in touch and consider joining us on our Santa Barbara Cruise in October.

ha- I got the edit in

Kent and Marcia, Welcome and Congratulations. the first power boat i ever drove was the 23-V, (only it had a different initial then CC) but a great boat. Glad to have you aboard. If you are new to power boating , I would highly recommend a Coast Guard Axillary or US Power Squadron Safe Boating class as a minimum introduction to a whole new and wonderful world.

Kent and Marcia -
Welcome aboard to the 'pub' - we all enjoy posting by new owners of their experiences with their boats - kinda like hearing what new thing the grandkids have just achieved, for us older folks - so put up a few posts, if you wish, to share your experiences with the rest of us.

Welcome to the pub Marcia and Kent,

and the build quality, at least the unit I saw, was better than the 22 Cruiser.

I don't know if I would use the term better. They are finished to different degrees. I would compare them more to a Ford and a Mercury. Both Ford Co. cars on the same or similar frames, but a little more cost involved for the upgraded utilitarian look to the more finished look. If I remember right about $10,000 more. If I were buying my first 22 now, I would look at the 23 real hard.

We chose the Honda 135 for the 23' Venture. I'm also mounting a 15 h.p. kicker that I already own.

I still own (trying to sell) a 23' Wellcraft Center Console that just doesn't cut it in the cold weather of the Central Coast of California north of Santa Barbara (Point Conception). I first saw C-Dories at Two Harbors a couple of years ago at their annual Catalina gathering. I was very jealous of how warm and cozy these little cruisers were. I've been boating for the last 30 years and am now retired and ready to do some real cruising.

We're really excited to go pick up our boat.

Regards,

Kent and Marcia
