Hi Dave,
A visit to the Crow or Northern Cheyenne reservations here in Montana can be a life changing experience. Thanks for your interest to donate to the Lebre school,
www.stlabre.org. I am confident your donation would be very much appreciated. Last summer there was a huge fire near the school and many native families lost their homes. The school was headquarters for fire fighters. The community is working to recover and I am sure every donation to the school would be used wisely.
Laura and I have spent time the last 2 summers on the Northern Cheyenne reservation near the Lebre school, working with an organization based here in Bozeman called Red Feather,
www.redfeather.org, also
https://www.facebook.com/redfeatherdeve ... ts&fref=ts. Red Feather is much like Habitat for Humanity but very small and they only build homes for Native Americans, they depend on volunteer labor and donations, they have projects on Northern Cheyenne(Montana) and Hopi(Arizona) every summer. Here is a great little info video on Red Feather -

We have had the great fortune to live on the reservation for many weeks while helping build 2 homes. We were able to spend time with native families, learn about their culture, history, share meals, stories, swim in crystal clear lakes and see some of the challenges they face, it’s been a very enriching experience for Laura and I. Life on the reservation has a whole different rhythm and they have a different way of measuring quality-of-life, much different than our 9 to 5 society. If you like history, Google “northern Cheyenne history”, lots of interesting reading. I bet the school would welcome your visit the next time you are out this way. Also be sure to visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument,
Kevin
