I have posted recently about a water intrusion problem I am currently having with my 2005 22' cruiser. Dave S has e-mailed me with a possible fix of the problem and has been most gracious and sent me an item that may take care of the issue. I would like to publicly thank him and say that it is outstanding to have a group of fellow boaters that share resources and knowledge so freely.
I am still a little less then impressed with the factory and their response to the request for help with this matter. I do not mind making the repair as I do have some skills, but to get no response from the factory is to say a bit disheartening at best.

OK- There has been a lot of "Factory Bashing" going on and I have to have my say.

1)- When I had the trouble with the leaks at the brass stem guard- the factory was there to help. They told me to take it to any repair facility of my choice. When I told them that I was going to effect the repairs myself, they gave me pointers on what to do.

2)- When I had trouble with the water leaking through the bottom of chain locker, again, they were there for me- willing to take care of the problem. Again I made the repairs myself.

3)- I took the boat back to the factory to have the wallas installed 3 years after purchasing the boat. I was/am pleased with the installation. I was a good bit displeased with the condition (lack of cleaning) the boat was in when I picked it up.

4)- I recently noticed some damage to my hull. When we returned from Catalina, I brought the boat home to unload and clean. After which I to it back to the Landing where we store the boat. Last weekend I saw some damage to the chines that I had not seen when I returned the boat to storage. I contacted our local dealer, Catalina Yacht Anchorage. Even though they did not sell me the boat, they are in progress of making the repairs at this time, no questions, no hassle--- Thanks Bob Nahm.
I called the factory and left a message for Scott Reynolds. He called me back the next day. My hull was 3 months out of warranty. Scott said not to worry, there is no structural damage to the hull and they will cover the cost-- Thanks Scott.

I have worked in Quality Control for 30 years. Very few tasks have 100% inspection. QC is a task performed on a sample percent basis. There is a chance that some deficient items are not caught during inspection. The factory has always been square with me concerning repairs.

I don't consider any of this factory bashing. I think it is legitimate feedback which should help to keep the factory on its toes and its customers informed. They are big boys at the factory. They can handle it. This forum is not bought and paid for by the SBS party. It is a place for an honest airing of stuff about an honest boat. Lets keep it that way. Now, what's next?
