Hello to all. No longer a wannabe thanks in part to this great site. Vicki and I now own a beautiful 2007 Angler 22. A dumb question: Does the starboard stern battery compartment drain? Trying to clean it. Thanks again

Congrats on your new boat!

Presuming you are talking about the starboard lazarette, perhaps it's different on the 2007 Angler than on my 2002 Cruiser (and some other cruisers I have seen). On my boat that "compartment" is really only partially divided off from the spaces it is adjacent to. The bottom stops well short on three corners (aft, fwd port, fwd stbd) and in those same places there are no "side walls." So you would never be able to keep water in it.

On my boat the port lazarette, on the other hand, is basically a waterproof hold, with a low spot and drain in the bottom (leads to an overboard through-hull).

Would be interesting to see what yours looks like in comparison.

That's just the same as my much older 1987 Cruiser, which was one of the very first of the re-designed 22's made following the Classic 22's.

Apparently, that's one thing that hasn't changed. The starboard compartment is designed as a battery compartment, and the port side designed for conversion to a live well, if desired.*

* (But it is kind of small, and not round, and suitable for some small baitfish, but not those that require a larger, round tank, with water moving in a circular pattern, a "Sun" light, etc.)

Maybe the Angler has two "waterproof" lazarettes since.... they are useful for angling? Of course then you would think they would each have a drain as well.

Interesting mystery.
