Diana and I just got back from the Wallowas and Central Idaho. We had a good time, but didn't cruise and fish as much as we had planned. When going to Central Idaho (Payette Lake), we did take the camper and boat through Hells Canyon. That is definitely a place to go back and visit. Brownlee Reservoir on the Snake and Powder Rivers is huge by Oregon standards. The people that were fishing there were bringing in buckets of crappie and nice sized smallmouth bass.
