What methods and materials are being used to protect trailer tires from rot during storage? Is any vapor barrier acceptable such as heavy poly? Thanks, your information and advice is appreciated.

Hey that stuff, looks like THE STUFF! I found it here in Anchorage, at West Marine, under the sites "retailers" link.

Chuck,
Thanks for the link to the tire rot info. Have to get me some of that 303 stuff cause as Red fox says;" That stuff looks like THE STUFF".
And another question, is it necessary to jack the trailer up in order to take the load off the tires during storage? Thanks again.

that 303 stuff looks like the bees knees, if you want to go for the throat as far as long term tire storage I think I would give them the 303 treatment, block them up, throw a cover on them and fill them with nitrogen instead of air (clean, inert gas that won't interact & decompose the rubber).....you might check at the local RV store for tire covers, 303 protects from UV light, but not as good as a cheap vinal cover

That's the same stuff I treat my Sunbrella cover with. Good stuff.

kenonBlue-C,
Thanks for the suggestion to use the 303, block the trailer, cover tires with vinyl. Of particular interest is the suggestion to use nitrogen to fill the tires. Never would have thought of that but it makes sense. Maybe we should use that 303 as sunblock. Hate to have my tires look better than me in a few years.

I personally, never go out in the sun without a vinal bag over my head, the 303 treatment may be a better option Chuck S gets the kudos for the 303.....the hard core Motorhomers get the credit for the nitrogen..........actually the best thing to do is to not store the boat/trailer....USE it
