TomCat towing length?

Hi all,

Does anyone know the overall length of the TomCat for shipping purposes? This would be from the trailer hitch ball to the most aft propeller blade with engines trimmed in towing position.

Thank you!

Rob

It depends on the trailer and position of the boat. I have seen ranges from 32 to 37 feet. As I recollect mine on the 13,000# capacity trailer was 35'.

Probably be on the high end of that. My 22 on the trailer is 28' LOA (with the motor down).

Those TomCats sit high enough on the trailers I would think they would tow with the engine down, (no need to tilt) so that would shave a few feet off the length for towing that model.

I might be wrong :disgust It happened once  already today

Hi Rob,

We tow with engines full down on a Float-On clone of Bob’s. It’s just under 35 feet to the back of the cowlings would be more with engines up but why stress the hydraulics.

“For shipping purposes” I’m not sure why you’d need to know except that it’s definitely not “oversize” per DOT…standard semi-rig trailers are 53 feet long.

The DOT height limit is 13 feet 6 inches. I exceed that unless I fold over the anchor light pole when trailering.

Happy Shipping!

Thanks all.

I should be closing on a 2009 in a few weeks. It's in Canada and I need to get it home. British Columbia ferry needs to know length for reservation and fee.

Hopefully if all goes well, I'll properly introduce her soon.

I would ask the current owner to put a tape measure on the boat, on the trailer. Or send a photo of the boat on the trailer, and give you some trailer measurements.

This.

We have a 2018 Float-On trailer and it's just over 39' with the motors trimmed all the way down.

When we trailered Journey On from Vancouver to Nanmio, we were asked for the overall length. When we said we weren't sure they said the length we gave them would be the length they used. No measurement then or when we loaded on the ferry. I would not sweat the dimension but give them your best guess. It's used only for the fee.
