Trailer Disc Brake Hubs

Question:

I'm looking into the oil bath hubs and was wondering if any knows if the rotors are built into the trailer hubs -- or are the rotors separate like a car (hub and rotor separate parts)?

Thanks.

I don't really know (or at least I don't remember), but the folks at Champion Trailer Parts Supply can answer your question, and they're the least expensive source in the USA!

I recently replaced the "Reliable" disc brakes and brake lines that came on my EZ Loader with flexible brake lines and Kodiak brand rotors/hubs. There was nothing wrong with the Reliables they had just seen too much salt water. Both brands had the hub integral to the rotor. It was possible to buy Kodiaks with a separate rotor/hub but that would have been a disadvantage for me. I had oil bath hubs on both and highly recommend them. The Reliables had many many launches and thousands of miles on them with nary a problem. I figure if oil bath hubs are good enough for over the road truckers they're good enough for me. Note that the axle spindle diameter is critical when replacing rear seals and should be carefully measured with a dial caliper. Also, if you use Reliable oil bath hubs, the caps thread on to the hub, they are not interchangeable with other hubs/caps; the Kodiaks are press fitted using a block of wood and a rubber mallet.
