Verizon iPhone launch looks set for February 3rd

We will so be there...we have a three phone family plan, one upgrade is already mature, the other two come due in May. Goodbye BlackBerry, hello iPhone!

I ordered my iPhone online the day it was released and got it on Valentine's Day. I've got it sync'd to my desktop via MobileMe and I'm as happy as a pig in slop!

I know you have been dealing with more important matters recently, but am wondering if or when you will be getting yours?

So you are going to wait and do all 3 at the same time? Hope there is a family plan for iPhones, cuz I'm sure you would not want to wait that long for yours unless you had to!

I have a love/hate relationship with Apple.
I have their 80gb classic iPod for the car...only use it for my own MP3 files...never bought any music from the iStore or whatever it's called. I hate the iTunes interface, but am stuck with it. The hardware is great, and integrates with my car stereo transparently.

I recently had a chance to borrow an iPad, with Navionics installed.
Quite impressive, until I learned that all iPad/iPhone apps need to be obtained via Apple...

I hate that level of control, and I'm surprised that there has not been any anti-trust action against them yet. Also was disappointed to learn that the iPad had a closed file system...the iPad is basically a big phone (without phone capability) not actually a tablet computer as I had first assumed...

My employer supplies me with a cell phone, so I won't be in that market until I either retire or get fired (both are close...)

I absolutely love my iPhone, but I don't have an opinion on the dropped call issue because I rarely use the phone for voice calls. I do have a "bumper" on it and when my wife has used it there have been no issues.

Internet functionality on the iPhone is leaps and bounds better than on the Blackberry. The screen is incredibly crisp and clear, and of course Apple's human interface technology never ceases to amaze. I am so happy to be rid of 3rd party synchronization tools to my Mac iCal and Address Book apps. I've downloaded the Navionics app and was very impressed. Also have the Kindle app.

For me, it was a great choice and worth the wait.

The problem with Verizon is they don't offer GSM in all their phones (only select phones such as the Droid and Blackberry). They are most certainly keeping customers away that want communications in other countries. I would love to get an Iphone, and I prefer Verizon for the coverage, but I sure wish they would step up and start offering GSM instead of just CDMA.

I'm looking more closely at the Droid as a result.

For sure it is a tradeoff (what isn't?) but for me Verizon's coverage was most important. YMMV.
