Has anyone tried this device to bake potatoes on top of their Wallas?

You can also "bake" potatoes in a pressure cooker but I don't think the skins would be crispy -- has anyone tried this?

Never tried it Warren, but if it works, we'll have to add butter, chives & bacon bits to the galley...

:smilep

If it bakes potatoes perhaps it can do biscuits too??? :idea

Brownies :?: :) :!:

Does it have a flat bottom?

Warren, I haven't tried that model but I have used similar devices on backpacking stoves. Most frequently, I've used an "Outback oven". It would do a good potatoe and I know for a fact one can make decent baked good with it. But you have a Tomcat. Throw in a convection oven like I did. It's not as fast a a microwave but it's way more flexible in application - Pizza, baked goods and baked potatoes are all doable. Alternatively, moor by me and walk over near dinner time announcing "We've got potatoes" and I'll cook a few up for all of us.

Let me know if it works. potatoes are my all time favorite food. I have live off a ten lbs bag of potatoes and a sleeve of ground beef for a month at a time before. I know more ways to cook potatoes then a man should. Only as a last choice and if in a great hurry should a potato ever be cooked in a microwave and never should bacon crumb ever be applied to so heavenly a morsel as potatoes.

On the grill of the boat. cut up a large portion of red or yellow potatoes. wrap in a envelope of tin foil with a 1/4 cup of butter and lemon pepper spice. seal the foil and place on the grill under a covered lid. Cook for twenty minute's or until potatoes are tender. now that's the way I like it but you can cook it in any spice you want the same way.

Tom, Thanks for the recipe. I'm a potato guy too, eating mostly, not a cook or potato chef.

MMM... baked goods, Yes please post your findings as I would love to bake a bit too. I have actually seen little propane ovens that could fit in the cockpit but you just have to draw the cockpit clutter line somewhere.

I actually have a convection oven on the Tom Cat, but the reason I was asking about this is (a) I ran across the item in another context and was intriuged, and (b) I have to run my generator (or be on shore power) to use the convection oven.

We are evidently drawing that line just AFTER portable ice maker that will arrive in the big brown truck shortly!

Hmmm - you've got the ice, Patrick has the blender - Patrick clearly needs to visit the PacNW with his boat or you need to go south with yours. Let me know what you two work out in this regard and I'll bring the margarita mix.

And the tequila?

The go no-go decision on this puppy was based on sundowners at Lake Powell over two weeks and not having to continually chip ice off the two blocks in the cooler...

And the tequila. I'll even make pizza's in my convection oven.
