What Price Should I Ask For My 22?

Little Catelyn

New member
We both love our little cruiser, but just don't get out on her enough -- so, our 13 month old baby will be up for sale -- er, at least as soon as I can figure out what price I should ask...

She has been pampered at Twin Bridges Marina's inside storage since delivery and has only spent about 80 hours passing gas.

So, here are the details:

22' Cruiser -- Black (exterior) with Dubonnet Tweed (interior)
High-Top
Wallas
Barber Chair (forward-facing)
Hydraulic Steering
Trim Tabs
Windless w/Anchor and Rode
Electric Water Pump
Teak Handrails both Inside and Out
E-Tec 90
Complete C-80 System w/Radar and Autopilot
Ray 54 VHF
and all topped off with a Radar Arch from Tanner

Since I didn't purchase a trailer, I don't have one to sell with the boat...

As far as the price goes, I was thinking something like $47,500. It sure makes for a LOT of dollars per hour for the hours used, but I cannot see asking much more...

Thanks,
Corwin

Corwin: Man.... that is sad. But, as new as it is... I think I would approach Les at EQ where I guess you purchased the boat. Looking at the photo album....he for sure likes the boat enough to fuel it up!!! Nawww... On the serious side of this... your boat is new enough to be called new....but used enough to take a hit on some depreciation for things that we put on our boats...that others may not want to dump the funds into... but.... Les sells a lot of 22s. .... and here is an opportunity for someone looking for a new rig....to get one that has had all the break in stuff...and any littke kinks already worked out....and NOT HAVE TO WAIT.....and W A I T...... for a new one to be built and or put together.. Not sure if Les does any type of consignment work... but... it may be a great way where the 3 of you all come out winners. You get out from under your boat without getting your body parts removed, a new boat owner gets a new(ish) boat without all the wait and frustration of "when is it going to get here...followed by when it is going to be done..." and saves a few thousand for letting someone else take her out of the showroom..... and IF Les does consignment work... turn a few buck again.... If he does not.... well... you just have to figure out how quickly you want out of it... and how badly does someone else right in the middle of the C-Dory meca want one...

Good luck...and I am sorry to see anyone sell a C-Dory....unless of course it is to only to get one....or two more of them.

Corwin, sorry to hear you're selling Little Catelyn. She's a beauty, as Pat said, the teak rails sure give it a nice touch. As for the price, $47,500 is probably a good place to start. As Byrdman said, it's just like new but not brand new. Good luck in your future endeavors. Hopefully you'll consider another C-Dory when you have the time to boat more often.

Thanks guys for your nice responses. It dawned on me the other night that I had forgotten to consider that there was sales tax included in my original cost of the boat -- thus, I figured too high for a price. Hmm...

Maybe I'm being too hasty in thinking of selling Little Catelyn. Both my wife and my mother are having health issues -- I guess I have enough to worry about for now without dealing with the boat.

Hope to be out on the water again soon,
Corwin

Corwin-

Hope you keep the boat and can see your way through your relatives' health issues. A boat may just be a great refuge from such problems.

Actually, a boat like your's may be better than new- it's been through the de-bugging issues that new boats come with,

I'd buy a boat a year or so old long before I'd buy a brand new one!

Joe.
