Thanks for letting me join. I have a 1983 27' C-dory. Bought it almost a year ago. Took a little getting used to but Dang I love this thing now. I am used to jet boats and have spent most of my time on the Snake river, Hells canyon Oregon. Totaly diffrent from what I do now in Alaska to say the least. I fish pretty regular now on Katchamack bay out of Homer Alaska and this C-dory is amazing. I feel as safe as a guy could. I put a brand new Suzuki 140 on it when I got it and havent had any regrets. A friend of mine has a youtube chanel and has made a few videos with us that I will share. It was just my dumb luck buying this boat but as they say even a blind squirl gets a nut sometimes. Lol. I've seen a few shorter ones around and always liked how they looked but had no clue how good they really are. I have three boys and several friends that go fishing with me and everyone likes the boat. Anyway thanks again and Im always intrested in learning more about the C-dorys and being part of the comunity. If anybody is around this part of Alaska and wants to go for a ride gimme a shout.

Congratulations on your boat. looks to be a very capable boat with a great engine that will service your for years to come. It appears you've got the game figured out for the fishing and crabbing. I sold my 18' Olympic boat to a gal that lives in Homer in the summer months and she fishes for halibut right off the the spit in homer. She showed me pictures from her front room looking out at the docks and pointed to where she catches halibut. I delivered the boat up to her winter house in Hansville, Wa. She cooked up a halibut dinner for my wife and I as a thank you for delivering the boat. Boy was that ever good. Enjoyed the videos.

Thank you. Yes, hopefully the new enging kasts for quite awhile. It came with a 5 year warrenty. So, fingers crossed, it will last atleast 5 years. Lol. I have learned alot in the last almost 2 years since moving here to Alaska. I ask questions and pay attention to anyone thats willing to share knowlage. I catch halibut pretty close to the spit also and in real shallow water to. I fish where the fish are. There are alot of good places. Learning more all the time. I've seen some nice Olympic boats around here. It is pretty hard to beat some good halibut tacos or any kind of halibut dinner, thats a proper thank you forsure. Thanks for the response and glad you enjoyed the videos. I have a 24' weldcraft jet boat and a koffler drift boat as well so if you want to check out Alaska small craft adventures he has a few more with the C-dory and the others that we've done together. I also have a youtube channel. If your intrested in checking mine out let me know and I'll give you a link. Thanks again, have a good one.

Welcome Dale! Great boat! I was born and raised in Fairbanks and fished Homer/Anchor Point every year, loading up on Halibut and Kings. I was lucky that my dad had a 22' C-Dory Classic. I also had an inboard jet boat that was very versatile for numerous waters in Ak. But the C-dory was the king in everything but the rivers! Congratulations, and welcome to the group!
If you don't mind, I'd love to have a link to your YouTube channel!

Thanks Joe, I bet you know alot about all the fishing around here. I havent really even used my jet boat around here much, not at all since I got my C-dory. Thanks for the reply. My youtube chanel isnt nearly as good as my friend Ryans, but I've been putting stuff on it for several years so theres lots of diffrent stuff to check out. I have 3 boys a 34, 33 and a 20 year old. I mostly use it so I can remember all the fun we've had. Hope you enjoy checking out our stuff. If you get back this way gimme a shout and I'll take you fishing if you want. Thanks again. Have a good one. https://youtube.com/@dalereynolds9634?si=b0Usb1orzzLvrJ6y

Living in Fairbanks for 40 years, we were quite a ways from the salt water so the jet boat got used on a lot of interior Alaska rivers. For us to go to Homer with the camper, boat, 3 kids and a dog, it was at least 12 hours of driving. Valdez was closer, but the fishing/crabbing/clam digging in Homer was the best! We launched with the tractors at Anchor Point mostly, but the weather had to be pretty decent.
I'll check out your channel, thanks!

I have wondered how it was up that way. I hope to do some ice fishing at lake louise and big lake this winter. I would also like to catch a bourbot and a pike also grayling and lake trout. Sounds like theres some of that stuff up there where your from. Sounds like you had fun as a kid. My youngest son Matthew ran the tractor launch at Deepcreek here in Ninilchik all summer this year. Pretty cool to watch. Thanks again.

Welcome to the community. I used to live in Homer, Kachemak Bay is beautiful, and there's lot of great fishing and crabbing around. Some of the best oysters on the planet, too. That's a great boat for those waters--so are the Tolmans!

Hello, thanks for the reply. It is beautiful here. I'll have to look up tollmans and check them out. I was just talking about getting some oysters. I love them and would like to try the ones from here.

Fantastic!!

congrats on the 27. I love the one I have. its a 27 extra long cab with a head and a closet at the back of the cabin. Off shore bracket and a honda 225. We have owned it for 15 years now. Its our vw van of the water. We general overnight for 3 to 10 days at a time. Love the videos but you need to cut his sugar intact a bit.

Lol. Thanks alot! I know another guy from a couple towns over that has a 27' with a longer cabin than mine. His is also an 83'. I looked it over but didnt get a look inside to see if it has a head or not but next time I get a chance to check it out I'll ask about it. His is still an inboard with an outdrive. I got mine right after someone converted it from the inboard and added a brand new fuel tank. If I would have done it I would have went with the offshore bracket myself. The guy who did the conversion did a good job though so Im not complaining. I also wish I had a little more engine if I had it to do over. I just went with what the dealer suggested since I had no clue with an outboard. I'm used to an inboard big block Ford in a jetboat. And with them the more the better. Lol. Live and learn. Maybe in 5 years I can upgrade. Its ok for now and I get killer milage, doesn't cost me much to fish as much as I do, so no big deal. Might try a prop change and see if I can get atleast a little more speed over the 20 mph top I'm getting now. I have read that some people call them the vw van of boats. I havent stayed overnight on mine yet, but hope to sometime. Ya, Ryan is definitly enthusiastic. Lol. He gets everbody a little excited. It's pretty fun when he comes along. If you check out his chanel he's like that all the time. Lol. Thanks for the response. Have a good one.

Mine is a 84 I think. It was never a inboard. It had a small bracket with a 115 2 stroke I was told. The owner before me had a full width off shore bracket, really an hull extension built and install by Armstrong. I was luck enough to buy it when I did with the 225 Honda and a Honda kicker and a rear steering station. I have added a fridge, built a kitchen with origo stove, a diesel heater, rebuilt the table and dash. New downrigger mount ( over built as hell ) and cutting table... etc etc.. Top speed is over 35 but we spend most of our time at 23 to 28 and get 2.3 mpg until over 30. All the 27s were just a little different. Holds in different places . Fuel tanks in different locations. I have never seen another on like mine. There was a young lady up your way on Facebook that was counting and documenting all the 27s. I think she had located 30 of them and over 20 were in Alaska .

Sweet! All pretty cool. When I got mine it had a 1998 yamaha 150 2 stroke that didnt run very well. After getting it home and cleaning the carbs and doing a compression check it ran ok but I would never have had any confidence in it to get me there and back. So I went right down and spent a hard earned 14k on the 140. It also has hydrolic steering and first time out it blew the lines apart where someone had spliced them with some 3/8 compression fittings and no inserts, when I guess I put to much pressure on the steering wheel when it was bottomed out one way. Was pretty lucky the tide was running the way it was or we would have been in real trouble. We got it put back together limped back in and I went the next day and had some one piece parker lines made without any splices and put them in. Looks like my boat has the original table and bench and bulkhead as well as cushions on the port side but I think the starboard side was built by someone later. Its ok but the wood doesnt match. It has a nice propane two burner stove/oven combo. The oven looks brand new like its never been used. I also put a diesel heater in it. Pretty enjoyable to fish in even when its cold. They must have changed a little bit on every boat they built it sounds like. I would be happy if I could cruise at 25 or 30. Other than what I've listed my boat is in really good shape and doesn't seem to have been used much. The original wood table/ seti bulkhead barely has any wear at all. The guy who did the inboard swap rewired everything too. New wipers, lights, and most all trim also. Almost looked like a new boat inside when I got it. He used quality fuse blocks, shrink tube and loom. Did a real nice job in my opinion. I think it sounds like we both have nice boats. Mines not perfect but I sure like it. It's still a work in progress as to how I want it. I would like to figure out a nice fillet table that doesnt get in the way. I'm still thinking. I put the downrigger mounts together, lower half scotty top part cannon. Works for me. I wonder if the lady putting the list together of the 27's already has mine listed and how many they made total. Thanks for the info. I appreicate it. Have a good one.
