Anyone have experience with a Tomcat 24 and Suzuki 140's? I'm coming up on the end of refit and need to pick props. I was hoping someone has run this combination before and can give me some guidance on prop selection.

Molly Brown, owner "James" repowered as part of his upgrade of his original boat. I believe he has Suzuki 140's. This was done more recently, and are the newer 140'a. Around 2016 or so, the second edition of the Suzuki 140 was released, and it has HP near the 140 +, Earlier 140's were closer to the 115. Give James a "shout".

Dr.Bob got the Suzuki part right but we repowered with 2020 90 hp. Compared to the original carburetor Honda 90 hp it’s like a new boat. 140’s will have more than enough power. Can’t speak to what props to use. We run a 4 blade 13.5X15.

I've got 2013 Honda BF135's on my TC24. They are kindof old school 4-strokes and pretty heavy (478lb each). My boat was hull #2 so it's a little different from later model, I understand my fuel tanks (2x67gal) are also located a bit further aft than the newer builds. With full tanks and a fully loaded cockpit (deflated dinghy + outboard, 2 coolers etc, I do get a small puddle in the back corner of the cockpit. The engines have plenty of power, I can cruise in the mid-high 20's and top out around 34kts. If I were to re-power, I would look for lighter motors, perhaps with slightly less power. That being said, those 140's are already quite a bit lighter so they might be just perfect for your boat.

Thanks for the replies. This refit has been extensive and I've made the boat a fait bit heavier. All the mechanical and electrical systems have been replaced and 89 gallons tanks installed, plus a 14 gallon diesel tank. Batteries have been moved into the cabin to get some of the weight out of the stern. Unless I can get any better information, I'll probably start out with a set of 21 pitch Suzuki props and see how they work. Buddy ran a set of 19pitch enertias on 115 Mercs on a 24 tomcat that ran awesome. I figure the higher gear ratio Suzuki will want more pitch, but the added weight might need less. Time will tell. I'm a month away from putting it in the water.

Sounds like a big job, what's the diesel tank for? Do you have a build thread? Would love to check out your boat.

My 2006 TC 255 ran 21" props and with the Suzuki 150s, 2 extra AGM group 31's in the cabin, would run in the very high 40 mph, if fuel was down one person, no gear, it could hit 49 mph to 50 mph.

Ya, it's a big project for sure.

Diesel tank is for the Wallas stove/heater.

Plan is long trips on the BC coast so lots of fuel for both the engines and heater were a key part of the plan.

No build thread. I might put something together at some point. I've taken lots of photos along the way.

Thanks, that's really helpful
