These guys were everywhere, including the lagoon that runs for about a mile NE of Winter Harbor. The lagoon is shallow and open, but the weather report was good and I only draw 8 inches.

When I returned, a crow had gone under the flap of the bimini, into the V berth and got a package of ramen out the the grocery bag. It had already opened it and eaten part of it. Made a mess getting it out of the boat.

This is where the highway to Port Alice crosses the Marble River. Years ago I kayaked down the river and then paddled to Coal Harbor to run the shuttle. Lots of caves along the river, some showing signs of human habitation.
