Autozone has a radiator tester with gauge. Remove the cap adaptor, and with a small clamp on the rubber hose, you can attach to a fitting which screws in to the oil filler hole in the lower unit. I used the plastic fitting which comes with the pump for bulk filling of the lower unit...

You know you have spark in the other engine, but not in the one with the problem. Is the plug wet with raw gas? I would switch out coil and try a new plug before digging in to the carb.

How about #1 spark? Plug, wire, or coil?

For that price, you may want to look at a Pad, perhaps a mini, and for very little software cost have a backup GPS/chartplotter and download some inexpensive software. But, it must have an internal GPS chip so that you are not relying on towers. You can also purchase an external GPS that plugs...

If you push/squeeze the off button with clip in place, will that kill the engine? Works that way on my small OB, but took me a few years to figure out. Perhaps to harsh is different?

I hear your beer. Lake Superior is almost too cold to keep beer in the basement. KBC, Keweenaw Brewing Company, Liftbridge Brown, is ok anywhere between 37F and 60F. Pretty much all summer on the Great Lake.

With your trim tabs down, drag increases and your mileage will also decrease. In some sea conditions this is unavoidable if you wish to make reasonable headway. I use my "move-able ballast" such as coolers, tools, and spouse to load so that no trim tabs are needed, assuming no sea conditions...

I built a manometer years ago to set the draft on an oil burner for my furnace, but am not convinced it would be accurate enough to balance the carbs on an outboard. Can you share your design?
