    2004 C-Dory 22 Cruiser with a recent repower - $55k

It's really hard to post pictures here so I put the link to the Facebook marketplace at the bottom. But happy to answer any questions! Please feel free to text or call. 401 644 7715 (name is Ian) Boat is located in Bristol, RI area (sometimes in the water, sometimes on a trailer in...

    Thinking of twin tohatsu 60s

Are you stuck on twin engines? If money is a factor (and weight), wouldn't a single engine make more sense? I ask, as a 115 would be $10-$14k.(I just repowered so am pretty up to date on the numbers as had called for quotes on Tohatsu, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha). Regardless, I see a...

Replacing Balsa Core - Few Questions

Hi - just interested in if you have decided on the fiberglass yet? 1708 would be my choice as I understand what it is and have used before, but I'm no boat builder! I slightly suspect that if you are using that and epoxy, you are going to have a higher quality build than out of the factory no...

    Repower Time

I was kinda joking about the 140, I’m very happy with the 115 but on a zero wind and no wake day, the boat felt like she would do 30 knots happily, I don’t want to run at wide open throttle though so will only rarely do it. Regarding the wallas stove. I moved from a complicated sailboat with...

    Repower Time

Have taken a few trips on the boat now, including an overnight with my family to Cuttyhunk, MA (tiny island that is about a 33 mile trip for us each way). Love the engine, we cruise at 23 knots if it's flat and 17 knots in the ocean on a fairly calm day with a little chop and some swell...

    Repower Time

I too have never understood the secrecy around prices, but there ya go. As I got a bunch of different quotes, I feel comfortable with the cost. This place was thousands cheaper than anything else I could find, I really can't say enough good things about how they were to work with and the quality...

    Repower Time

UPDATE: Repower is now complete - ended up with a (white) Suzuki 115. I'm on hour 6 of the break in period so have only gotten to just south of 5k RPM and haven't gone full throttle. Speed at that rpm topped out at 21-23knots on GPS (it was a windy day with current). I suspect I'll be able to...

    Repower Time

So my final final answer after much hemming and hawing... I am going to stick with the 115. While, I believe (apart from the marginal upfront cost) there is no material benefit to get the smaller engine, and I think the 140 would be better. I know the difference would be negligible, and many...

    Repower Time

Thataway, I hear you on the 115 vs 140, it's just so hard to say no to more HP, even thought I understand I'll never use it. The only other consideration is I think the 140 has a better oil cooler which sounds like more reliability to me, but really I'm just looking for excuses for a 140...

    Repower Time

Interesting discussion. Regarding the weight my boat has all chain and a windless (and I increased the anchor size to a 14lbs) so maybe this will improve balance. Dropped off the boat today for the repower so we'll see how it goes! The dealer was really excited to look at the c-dory, they are...

    Repower Time

That’s great to hear! Xtraplus, do you mind sharing what prop you use with the Suzuki?

    Repower Time

Update: I went with a Suzuki 115 (deposit down at least). I realize i had previously said too heavy, but on further review it seems people put them on with no trouble. Price was a bit better than others, and lead time is excellent (within 2 weeks they tell me).

    Repower Time

Interesting / thanks for the comments / good advice re-fuel. I’m fortunate to live within 5 miles of a dealer for each of those manufacturers so I’m trying to figure out my actual goal. Really interesting re honda needing premium fuel, makes me think that may be off the list as the 115 Honda...

    Repower Time

For reasons that can best be summed up by "I'm a dummy", it's time to repower... and fast. I know there has been a bunch of discussion over the years, but also engines and manufacturers develop and change over time. I thought I would ask the question this way, if the same boat (c-dory 22) came...

Considering the purchase of a C-Dory?

New C-Dory owner here. Just want to give a shout out to Trip Smith, my wife and I were moving from a sailboat as have a toddler and it had an open transom... was starting to get scary to keep her on the boat especially in bigger weather. We were looking for the smallest boat that could get the...
