Hello. This is Dave Hogue's daughter-in-law. I know Dave posted on this web-site many times and he loved reading posts. He also loved his R-21 he recently purchased.
Dave passed away this past Saturday night, on 7-7-07 while working on his beloved boat. He was at his lakehouse and had gone...
Steve, glad you made the decision to buy, I'm excited for ya'll........"Slow 'n Easy" is a great name, very descriptive. I look forward to seeing pictures of her in an album.
Jim, (JamesTXSD) would you consider organizing a Texas C-Brat gathering this Fall? Our numbers are growing.
Dave
Brent,
I used to do the same thing, but since you can only be notified of a pending private message when you log in, I missed seeing a PM asking a question for almost two weeks, so I was very late with a reply.
Dave
Steve,
Congratulations and welcome to the "Tug Thugs". You'll love the boat. She handles great in the water and tows real easy with a F150 or Expedition. I've only had Soulmate six months and am doing the same thing you want to do, learning about her in Lake LBJ and Canyon Lake in Central...
Thanks for the suggestions..........I just ordered 2 Hopkins Shaker Siphons from Amazon (qualifies for free shipping that way). I never thought of siphoning, but it makes sense.
Dave
Every 5 gal. fuel can I've bought (both metal and plastic) with a flexible spout has begun to leak when pouring after a couple of years. Can anyone recommend a 5 gal. fuel can that doesn't leak? Or does such a thing even exist?
Thanks,
Dave
Matt,
I hope to leave out after the first of the year next year, or maybe 2009, I've got so much to learn. I'll be sixty-five in December so I can't wait too long before starting! Are you single handing or is someone else there to do camera work and help in the locks?
Dave
2500 is what mine likes also, I get 6 kts on the nose (7 mph according to the GPS) and sips just about 1/2 gallon per hour at that RPM. I believe that's real close to hull speed for our boats.
Dave
Matt, Great job doing this series. I'm hoping to do the Loop myself, so I'm looking forward to each update. Where are the Quick Reference Cards available that you mention in Vol. 8?
Thanks for your effort to document your trip.
Dave
I agree with Jim, maybe it is an acquired taste.......er, sound. I've had 2 diesel pickups, a diesel eighteen wheeler and now have a diesel farm tractor and diesel boat. The concern about the noise will decrease as the fuel cost savings increase.
