Difference between logging in and not

I check the CB site several times each day and it is now a habit. Sometimes I login. Sometimes I dont.
What items, forums, etc are not seen when you dont log in? I know some items are hidden. Is there a list? Maybe I overlooked it.

thanks

Brent,

I think the biggest difference is the "View Posts Since Last Visit" tool. When you don't log it, the system has no way of knowing when you last logged on, but when you sign in it will show you all the posts you missed if you want to read/comment on them.

Bessides what Sarge said, there are these differences:

Members can see some threads that non-members can't, such as those in the "That's Life" forum.

Non-members get to view some ads that we don't that help pay for some of the operating costs of the site.

Members can post, whereas non-members cannot.

There may be more diffrences, but those are the ones I'm award of.

Bill (Da Nag) would be the authority on this!

Joe.

Brent,

I used to do the same thing, but since you can only be notified of a pending private message when you log in, I missed seeing a PM asking a question for almost two weeks, so I was very late with a reply.

In the Forums - only "That's Life" is hidden from anonymous users.

Functionality - no access to Private Messages, can't view anyone's profile, can't see who's online, can't view posts since last visit, and the posts you do read won't get flagged as read. When you login again, posts you read anonymously will be included in the "posts since last visit".

Ads are now the same - logged in or not, they appear for everyone, assuming no ad blockers are installed.

There may be other pieces I've forgotten about, but the above should include most differences.
