    New Marinaut 215 Owner

Congrats Steve. I write this from Elliot Bay Marina, on my 21 foot boat, wishing it had the features your new boat has. You made a great choice. And....Les is the best!! -Greg

A larger Marinuat (wherefor art thou)...

Les, Having personally seen your 21 footer, I do believe you have designed a perfect boat in that class, in terms of ride and creature comforts. But what to do about 2 foot-itis...or 4? Questions and comments. We discussed the distinction in the ride between the CD 22 and 25. Would the M25...

    The new iPad (HD! 4G!)

My hesitation all along is the size of the screen. I much prefer a 7 inch, as offered with the Galaxy or Kindle Fire. -Greg

    ACR AIS Receiver

Live? Perhaps. Free? Yes Accurate? Not in my Puget Sound experience. I've had some ferries surprise me. Heck of a price for this unit! Thanks for sharing about it. -Greg

    Boat heaters

I have four of these. Two for the house, one for the boat, and one for the RV. Here is why I like them. 400 and 800w setting and they are quiet. They have full safety features, which is why I leave one on in my bedroom, 24/7. In the boat, I use it underway and anchored, plugged into my...

Why You Need an iPad and the Navionics App

I have the Iphone 4S and Kindle Fire. Love the Navionics app. but haven't seen the need to acquire an Ipad for it. While underway, I have the Iphone mounted with a windshield mount, extending to a clear view while I'm on the helm. Above me is the Garmin 172 chartplotter and in the berth is my...

A beautiful day for the maiden voyage

Hello Swabbie (Allen), Was very happy to read this post. I was longingly looking at the River too that day but alas, the links got my attention. Hope to meet up with you on the Sound soon. -Greg

So I finally got an ipad2

Good call on nixing the Slingbox. I bought the app. and it's buggy, as is my Slingbox connection. I'm waiting for Xfinity to allow me to watch my tv live. Until then, I'll "live" with Netflix and other options while on the pond or the road. -Greg

Soliciting suggestions for our last grill...

I've used plenty of propane grills and was happiest with the plain jane Weber grill. I was happy to leave the Magna with the previous owner. My best solution, for both my RV and boat, is a George Foreman grill and a small microwave. To utilize this, you need an inverter or a genny. -Greg

    Do I really need Radar?

I've had boats with and without too. I'd go without if the need or desire calls for it. Instead, use AIS, like shipfinder app on a IPAD or IPhone or the Droid equivalent on a Kindle Fire tablet. Another solution is www.marinetraffic.com on a laptop. If it's foggy, stay in, or hail another...

    Volvo Penta Inboard/Outboard

I have two I/O's....a Mercruiser in my 1992 Reinell ski boat and a Volvo dual prop in my 1998 Campion. I've had good luck with both. I would love to have an outboard on my Campion but my primary reason is due to cockpit space. So far, the Volvo engine and outdrive has been quite reliable. I...

Small purchases that make a difference

$20 George Foreman grill. Works beautifully with my 1500 watt inverter that also powers up the microwave. No more gas grills to haul around. -Greg

Builder trials on A0001 and reassessment

Les, You described it as a family boat. Can mom and pop sleep comfortably in the V-berth? My understanding is that it's 48 inches wide. If so, kinda narrow isn't for two, normal sized people. -Greg

    Wrong Forum Indeed

Yeap. There you go. Our economy is flushed and you're making a joke about it. A lot of good people in this country are tied to that attitude and getting flushed along with the apathetic turds. Ya'll sure like keeping this unpopular thread going don't ya? Good thing no one wants to talk about...
