More Honda corrosion problems in my BF-200

My BF-200 was cutting out and coming to a stall whenever I exceeded 4000 rpm. Turns out the problem was that the corrosion was so bad where the cables and fuel line entered the motor, the fuel supply was getting choked off by the corrosion buildup. If I stayed below 4000 rpm the motor ran fine...

    Aluminum ... A-dory?

But alloy has disadvantages too....not that fiberglass doesn't....All of the alloy boats I have had eventually developed cracks that needed to be welded.. And all aluminum boats eventually corrode in saltwater. There is no exception to that rule no matter what a salesman says.

Cell Phone Coverage US San Juans & Canadian Gulf Islands

Speaking of cell service, has anyone tried Consumer Cellular? I think they are AT&T and T-mobile. I primarily use my phone off the coast of Washington out of Westport and was wondering if Consumer Cellular works offshore. Thanks for any info forwarded.

    Pets, especially dogs

If you are a salmon fisherman beware of taking your dog fishing (or petting them before going fishing). Salmon only have three natural predators in the water while returning to spawn. Bears, humans and wolves (dogs). The dog smell on lures can repel salmon as salmon can smell one part per...

    1982 22 Classic Repower

Fifty pounds equals 8 gallons of gas. Do you presently notice a difference in performance and handling after you burn 8 gallons? Fifty pounds isn't much of a difference. Get the motor you want. Just my 2 cents. Edit: Fill a couple of sandbags with fifty pounds and throw them in the motor well...

    Westport Wa.

The salmon used to be in closer but the sardine sienes decimated the anchovy/herring population out in front of Westport. There is no bait in close to attract the fish. There used to be lots of bait where fresh water met the saltwater. Simply put, there is no reason for the fish to be where...

What's your favorite fish for the table ?

Canary rockfish from 500-600 feet of water. Twenty pound or less lings are number two. The big lings (30-40 pounds) aren't nearly as good 15-25 pounders. Number three would be sockeye or a 10 pound or less male silver.

White pastes I see on water hoses, sewer hoses, and such?

Boil a pan of water on your stove. Dip the end of the hose in the pan of hot water for a minute or two. The hose will slip right over the barbs while hot and supple. Tighten the clamp on the soft end of the hose over the barbs. It will won't leak.

    Seized SS disk brakes

Your calipers are held in place by stainless steel pins. The calipers have brass bushings inserted that have to slide back and forth on the pins. Corrosion gets in between the pins and the bushings and doesn't allow the caliper to slide around and self center. Pull the pins and clean them...

Venture 26 / 25 Cruiser kicker for hull speed +

One other thought about kickers is the size of the alternator. If you use your kicker for trolling in foggy conditions and have to use radar so you don't get ran over, plus have your nav lights on, sounder on and a refrigerator on board, it's good to have a alternator with a higher output. That...

Venture 26 / 25 Cruiser kicker for hull speed +

I have a 26 foot Cape Cruiser with a Honda 15 hp kicker. It does 7.5 mph with the kicker. I didn't realize that was hull speed but it makes sense now as raising the throttle from 3/4 to full doesn't affect the speed hardly at all.

Venture 26 or Tomcat 255 help me decide

I have a CC26 and love my boat but....in the ocean with a 2 foot chop and a swell greater than 4 feet you aren't gonna go faster than 12-15 knots. Of course going with the wind/swell isn't as bad. The Tom Cat would be a much smoother ride for most ocean conditions. 99% of my boat usage nowadays...

    It's crab time again!

For freezing crab try this: Crack your crab and put it in a zip lock sandwich baggie in the amount you generally use. Partially close the baggie leaving a small air escape hole. Roll the baggie of crab on the table to expel all the air and then finish sealing the baggie. Then vacuum pack. Works...
