Here's how I mounted my Ace Brutus puller back when I had a 25' c-dory.
It has the low profile (non-swivel) Scotty base which didn't snag on things when the puller was removed. Mounted here it didn't get in the way when boarding/disembarking the boat. I usually took it off and stored when not...
Well this isn't a "feature" you hope to use but it is an important piece of safety equipment. The cabin bilge pump is positioned in the best location to drain the cabin should it receive a significant amount of water. The cabin has no other way to drain itself so this pump will remove the water...
Did you get caught out in the weather on the Sound? I cancelled my weekend trip after seeing the forecast. I heard it was horrible out there with torrential rain.
Doesn't sound like it will be too tough to fix yourself however if you are not up for doing the repairs maybe call Boat Works of...
Just discovered a leak in my Seastar cylinder. Ordered the HS5157 kit and I'm going to replace the seals this weekend. Probably a dumb question but how do I purge the remaining oil before removing the cylinder cap? Do I hook up a collector line to the purge nipple and turn the steering wheel...
Bummer on the screw. Mine was tough to get off but it finally gave. Maybe some corrosionX or low strength lock-tite will keep it from rusting in place next time? Also finding a good quality stainless steel screw should help. Taking the motor apart is definitely time consuming the first time but...
I had the same thing happen to mine and waited too long to fix it. Then the switch stopped working so I called them. Ace sent a new switch and rubber cover for free and included detailed instructions for how to replace it. Great service, no questions asked.
When I opened the motor to replace the...
Gasoline is about 6 pounds per gallon making the 15 gal drum under 100 lbs. I can lift it myself onto a 5 gallon bucket. Then I siphon it from there into the main tank. To secure it I put the drum on a small towel to increase friction between drum and deck, then use a ratchet strap to the rail...
You won't be disappointed with a shaker siphon. They work great and are cheap.
I use it with one of the blue 15 gal poly drums here Jay:

For me the 15gal plastic drum is easier to deal with than several smaller cans. I strap it to the rail next to...
You didn't even wait until the 10 year anniversary of this thread to reply?
Spoiler alert:
He got the windlass.
And for anyone who finds this thread in another ten years and is wondering about the windlass.. It's money well spent.
Has anyone put the Attwood Centric 2 in a 25? I saw couple people that put it in 22s. I know the steering wheel clearance is tight on those boats. I have a modified helm, angled up a bit more than stock.

I'd say it's pretty close. I do remember hitting at least the 4 qt line on it. If it gets 4 qts of the 4.2 in the honda 90 then that's 95%. If you are changing every 100hrs then the oil is not going to be very dirty. That left over percentage seems pretty insignificant to me when mixed with...
