    Rodger’s marine electronics is closing

WOW, This is a real Bummer. So Sorry to hear about this. I have dealt with Rodgers Marine for 25+ years, 22 with my C-Dory SleepyC. They have done all of the electronics installation on SleepyC (Sorry, this photo does not include the new AxiumPro 12 or the new HawkEye sounder.) Rodgers used...

22 Bridge Clearance / Air Draft on Water with Various Roof Mounts

Thanks Bob, I was over at the boat yesterday, but I forgot to measure. I will try to get it this week. I know in some of my boat pix, my 8 ft antenna is not perpendicular to the water surface, but for the most part it is when I am cruising. Harvey SleepyC

22 Bridge Clearance / Air Draft on Water with Various Roof Mounts

Dave, Every boat is set up differently, (different arches, different placement with different accoutrements on top,) and those are only part of the equation. What you have in the boat, and where that is placed will also affect your air draught. Is it in the bow, or the cockpit? Those again...

Electronic Gagets which make the boating experience better and safer

I think the 2 best electronic devices I have are the MOB+ electronic OB kill switch and the Watchmate Vision AIS. I do have some stabilized binocs, but I find I don't use them nearly as often as the other 2 devices. Also, the Standard Horizon handheld VHF comes to mind as a near necessity...

    2007 22 Cruiser $50,000 Lopez Island, WA

Islandlady, Thanks for your reply. It makes sense now. I have used an Alaskan since 2006, and just recently changed over to a Takacat. I carry both on a frame using the cabin roof and the frame arch at the stern, so it covers the cockpit, sort of a canopy. Yes, the Alaskan, (any color) is a...

    Toland 18-8

Thanks Bob. I kind of hoped for a PNW boat. There's a Park Ranger in the San Juan's that has an 18-8 that is in really nice condition. I have invited him to the Friday Harbor CBGT, but have never seen him there or on line here. Harvey SleepyC

    HawkEye Depth Trax Question

I have a 2005 22 Cruiser. It has a sump (bilge) both at the aft and in the center, aft of the hallway, right under the cabin door. The step-over bilge. My Hawkeye is mounted there, and it works wonderfully. My primary use is foe slow cruising and at anchor for that device. In choppy...

    Toland 18-8

An 18-8 is a really interesting find. Where is it located? Any chance you could copy that posting and put it here on the Brat site. (There are still some people on this earth who do not have/do Facebook. Just sayino_O Harvey SleepyC

Fell Marine, Man Overboard Device Update

". . . Another fantastic benefit is that all of my passengers get to wear a Fell Marine FOB, so if anyone goes overboard, the boat stops. In this situation, the boat can be restarted immediately, to allow the rescue to happen....) Interesting. On my system, the only FOB that stops the engines...

    2007 22 Cruiser $50,000 Lopez Island, WA

Howdy, Just looking through your pix. Nice looking boat. The description says the Alaska dingy is "gray", but the photos are showing a yellow one. Did you replace one? If so, how long have you had the new (gray) one? Harvey SleepyC

Ways to improve cabin ventilation while away from boat

I used 3 of those air dryers, 2 heated and 1 just has the fan. I block up the V-birth pads so they get air under them. For serious cold, I add a small oil bath radiator type heater. Keeps it clean and dry. Also, the boat is stored in a barn, under a roof, and on a trailer, so not on the water...

Fell Marine, Man Overboard Device Update

Hi Colby and all. YES, it has been a while here, 3 years since you asked. I am a total believer in the value of the MOB+ from Fell Marine, and have had mine for 6 years now. It is no hassle to use, and with 2 FOBs I know both work, as they get tested every year after I put the new batteries...

    C Dory 22’ Trailer Recommendations

If you are considering a new trailer, I would encourage you to consider a tandem axel (2 wheels on each side) trailer. It will tow much easier, straighter, and it will be a much better ride for your boat. That is a big difference from just changing brakes, but on a new trailer you could start...

    Interested in C-Dorys

Westmiker, Yup, can help -- sort of. Someplace between Portland, ME and Cape Cod MA, buy a ticket to Seattle WA and come to the Friday Harbor C-Brat Get Together in the San Juan Islands. It will be an experience you will never forget, AND, you can see every version of C-Dory there, PLUS, meet...

    horns and hailers

Yes, I know this is an older thread. But here goes . . . . I have the Standard Horizon (Standard Horizon 240SW 5 x 7 Hailer/PA Horn) linked in #8 above and have had it on my boat for 16 years with no problems. It is mounted above the brow, facing forward and down about 25 degrees. s I have...
