    Just got a C-Dory 14’.

Very cool. Did not even know there was a 14’ C-Dory. If it was me, I’d remove that ugly PVC pipe next to the starboard side window, whatever it’s for. Ruins the lovely C-Dory lines!

    Props

If I may butt in with a related question: How do I tell what is the pitch on my motor? I also have a Honda 90.

Nice pix, looks like a great trip! Would love to hear any tips you can share about sleeping aboard in such a small space.

    Update on electric C-Dory

@Roland What electric motor are you using? And please describe your battery bank.

    Camperback and Fuel smell?

Your gas smell could also be caused by bad seals on the fuel hose connections between tank & engine. That was the case when we bought our C Dory. Even though the tank and connections were new. The connector was the wrong type and had been installed poorly. Once fixed, no more smell.

    Update on electric C-Dory

Thx for clarifying. I think a Torqeedo would work for some of the short trips we make, like to the fuel dock a couple miles upriver or nearby swimming spots.

    Update on electric C-Dory

Thx for posting about the Torqeedo. I’ve thought about getting one for slow cruising. I love how the battery is integrated with the motor, so no cables dangling/tangling and no need to mount a separate battery somewhere. You state the following: “For the Torqeedo, I have two batteries, so...

    Trouble with West Marine website…?

Oddly, I can access the West Marine “Pro” website just fine, though I don’t have a Pro account. Still no joy on the regular site. This is all using my iPhone, btw.

    Trouble with West Marine website…?

Anyone else having trouble accessing the West Marine website lately? I keep getting an “SSL error” message no matter what browser I use and even after “clearing my cache & cookies”. I depend on West Marine quite a bit because they have a store local to me and I can look up what’s in stock there...

    16 or 22

I’ve owned both and, for your needs, I would also recommend a 22. With 3 fishermen aboard, you will need the larger cockpit. Also the fully enclosed cabin is a real bonus in any kind of foul weather, be it rain or simply unrelenting sun. And one final, important factor: you can’t stand up inside...

    Ladder for CD-19 Angler

For those who might want a removable/portable swim ladder, this one works very well with the shape of the hull & gunwales of the C-Dory: https://pro.westmarine.com/west-marine- ... 09072.html

    Fuel tank swelling

Not gonna pay attention to any info coming from AI. It’s a long way from being trustworthy. But I will find a way to shade the tank, because that sounds like good ol’ common sense.

    Fuel tank swelling

Thx for the replies. I will try to shade the tank somehow. I keep the boat in an uncovered slip, so I’ll have to get creative.

    Fuel tank swelling

My C-Dory has a 12-gallon red plastic fuel tank. On very hot days it puffs up like a balloon, I assume because the fuel/gasses inside expand from the heat. If I crack open the fill cap the gasses escape and the tank shrinks back to normal size. Should I be concerned about this damaging the tank...
