    New Ranger 29 Tug

We still can't figure out how the box fits into that chiller! Texas Steve

Captain Jim - In Living Color!

Very entertaining! I think Captain Jim could find a great following nationally. Nobody's ever been able to develop a successful travelogue for the cruising lifestyle, mostly (I suspect) because of logistic issues. I know the Latitudes & Attitudes Folks tried it, but were only able to put...

Smallest but most effective tow vehicle

We tow our Ranger R21-EC with a 2008 Honda Pilot and think it is a great compromise between an everyday vehicle and the occasional tow vehicle. I noticed that the 09 Pilots now have the variable cylinder management system on the 4 wheel drive version. That takes towing capacity to 4,500...

    The...TugNuts?

This is a terrific development! I absolutely love viewing C-Brats and will continue to do so, but it will be nice to have a site that features the tugs. Thanks to all who made this possible! Steve Frisch

"O the places we go" with Discovery

We'll stay tuned with avid interest to learn more about your Keys adventure. We plan to make that trip in late February or early March and really like to hear about experiences (both good and bad). Tips on worthwhile itineraries and decent marinas are always appreciated. Travel safely and...

    A/C Winterizing

I do a similar arrangement on the raw water intake... keeps RV antifreeze in the cooling system until the next outing and seems to protect the impeller. Steve

    R-21 Owners - a question

It took me a few times to get the hang of handling our R21-EC in a following sea, but it isn't all that difficult. It does require constant attention forward to keep a course and adjusting the speed to the waves makes it a fairly comfortable proposition. The more time I spend on this boat, the...

    Ranger 21EC questions

I've had my R21-EC for 18 months now and I love it more everyday. Having said that, it is a very different proposition from the CD-22. The big issue for everyone looking at the Ranger Tug is speed. With a moderate load, she will make about 8 mph at a very economical cruising speed. I've...

    Spot - Satellite Messenger

We have been looking at The Spot Messenger and understand the differences between Spot and the 406 EPRiB. I spoke to a Coast Guard Auxillary member last weekend who had recently purchased one and he was most impressed with the unit thus far. As I understand it, the "I'm Okay" feature is...

    Mast

I purchased the Sirius adapter that fits behind the factory Clarion at West Marine. I then purchased the low profile Shakespere SR25 antenna which I mounted on the roof of the pilot house behind the port top hatch. Works like a charm.

    Over Night Solar Lighting

Thanks for sharing. I believe I will order one. This addresses a couple of things that have concerned me, including a reliable reading light when overnighting. Steve

    Full Canvas or Not

We're seriously considering some kind of cover with roll down sides, but the $5,950 option from the factory seems a bit pricey. I'm amazed how difficult it is to get local canvas shops to reply. Very frustrating. I don't think I want a permanent top, but that may be the only other option...

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

Just a quick note to say how much I look forward to your posts and great photos. I know you must hear this all the time, but I consider it a good day when there's something new on The Adventures of the Wild Blue Crew. Thanks so much for making the effort and sharing your exploits. Steve Frisch

Ranger Tug 21ec - My Observation!

Maybe it's a good thing there's more than one boat manufacturer. If you can't appreciate the sheer economy of the R21-EC with regard to fuel consumption and space planning, keep looking. We appreciate our little tug more every time we take her out. Filled up for the first time yesterday since...
