Thanks Bob, that makes total sense!
btw - what about the fuel gauge reading issue. Will it be incorrect? I don't know if my tank have sending units, or if all the fuel info comes from a flow rate sensor in the motor?
Any reason why I shouldn't run my Honda 9.9 off of the main fuel tanks for the main motor (Honda 2021 BF100A). Currently I have to run the kicker off a separate 6 gallon tank, and dump out un-used as at the end of each season.
Could I tap into the 2nd port (unused) in the back of the water...
Hi Steve, I'd be curious of your input on my above inquiry about the Gear Oil (see above).. Why is my 2021 BF100A specifying only GL-4, and then the Honda gear oil they sell is GL-4 & GL-5 (Honda part# 08739-90W). The internet is saying GL-4 is a specific type and not just "superceded" by GL-5...

Yes, thanks.. It IS easy! Problem I've having is that the owners manual does not give a SPEC for the gear oil. 90W or 75W90? GL-4 or GL-5 (apparently GL-5 is bad for gearboxes with yellow metals in them)... Just not sure what to use!
I'm not sure what type of gear oil and oil filter the 2021 BF100A takes. Does anyone know how to find this info for sure?
Boats.net says they need to serial# of my motor to be sure. I don't have that right now.
Thanks for the tip! Yes, I've used them before and it was great, thanks for the reminder.
Question: I'm not used to working on newer/Honda outboards. I used to keep an old Evinrude running and it was more straightforward. Two questions:
(1) When the Honda manual says the changing the gearcase...
