I installed one last winter, best money I've spent on the boat.

If all you are going to be using it for is getting back and forth to shore then keep it small, they are very heavy and cumbersome to get up on the boat.

I haven't checked on a C-Dory but other boats I've checked on could be sold for almost double the NADA estimate.

I always figured the need to keep tanks full was an overrated myth. As James stated, I think the only time it would make any difference is with huge temp fluctuations over a long period. I run the tanks as low as possible on the last trip, add stabil, and refill in the spring.

Could the fuel be coming out of the throat of one of the carbs while tilted up?

I suspect that whenever a school of herring is around their will be something hanging around waiting to eat them. The problem is that they don't cooperate, sometimes you find them and sometimes you don't.

I put in the 25 gal tanks and carry extra 15 gal drums. The 15 gal drums are as big as I can easily pick up and put on the lazzerette hatch to siphon into the tanks. The nice thing about the drums is as soon as I have room in the tanks I empty them and store them in the dinghy, out of the way.
