Do you fish alone?

I have had a (from a junk yard) rear view mirror mounted on the radio shelf for 20 yrs. Works well for watching rods and other boats when trolling in traffic. The ski mirror sounds good to me and will pusue that.
For solo trolling I also have a "Fish-On" rod holder base mounted on the cross beam inside the cabin in the middle of the door. The rod is right there handy and sticks out towards the motor.
Just another idea...................Jack

Good ideas all around!

Confession time:

Even though the ski mirror is nice, I find the simplest way to troll alone and be aware of what's happening with the pole(s) is to put a bell on the rod(s) about 1/3 to 1/2 the way up from the reel.

I find myself forgetting to watch them without getting diverted off and on, and the bell sure gets your attention!

So what if it's a bit hokey!!!

Since we are talking about safety stuff, a friend of mine was on the boat in PWS that sunk after hitting a whale last year. With the boat filling up with water, he reached the decision that a PFD might be a good idea but since it was not his boat he didn't have any idea where he might procure such an item. After a brief but loud discussion, he learned that they were in a locked locker, very safe from thievery and harmful UV rays. With the captain unable to find the key and the water level rising they somehow managed to break the hasp and retrieve the pfds. I remember him saying something about always wearing a pfd in the future.
