    West Coast US - Quakes

Does anyone wonder about the advisability of more nuclear plants especially in earthquake zones? The new technology is said to be safe but it ticks me off that congress has put tax payers on the hook for any disaster. IMHO the companies should accept liability just like in capitalist...

    Pacific Quakes

The quake and tsunami are tragedies and now there may be the danger of a melt down at one of the reactors. Their engineering to minimize earthquake damage is the best in the world. Lets hope none of our reactors ever get hit by a major quake.

    Hatch leak

Glad I removed the hatch. The core was wet and I removed quite a bit. Next I'll fill in with epoxy and then re bed the hatch.I wonder if other Cape cruisers might have this problem also.

    Hatch leak

I tried tightening both hatch and handle screws but no luck.I'll take the hatch out if I have to. I wonder about "reaming out" that small area from the inside and caulking from the inside. Thanks for the feedback. Alan

    Hatch leak

We thought the boat was ready to go until we had a heavy driving rain and realized we have a leak around the Bomar hatch. Although I'm not sure I think the leak is between the deck and hatch and not between the cover and the rubber gasket. I guess this means removing the hatch and rebeding...

Has anyone made it out to Beaver Island (Michigan) in a CD?

we stayed at beaver island on our great loop trip. Beautiful with little car traffic. We explored on motor scooters. One side of the island has huge sand dunes and with the clear blue water looked like the Caribbean(but definitely without the warm water) Enjoy the trip.

    Deleveraging

Individuals may be deleveraging but the federal government and the federal reserve sure aren't. With huge new debt, zero interest and quantitative easing(sounds so much better than creating money out of thin air) it looks like they may succeed in throwing another party. They even said they were...

    Boat Owners Dream Garage

On our great loop trip a couple of years ago we pulled into Charlevoix and anchored. We saw big waterfront homes but for some reason we're never impressed by them. After dark two huge "garage doors" opened up and we saw the incredible boat house all lit up with all the antique boats and my jaw...

    yamaha vs. honda question

We have a 135 Honda on our 23 Venture and have cruised many thousands of miles with no problems. We recently had an issue with some bad fuel but I suppose that can happen with any motor. We have 2 honda ATV s 2 honda generators and have had a motorcycle and an Accord(same block as 135).I guess...

    Cruising the Gulf Coast

Somewhere I read that the industrial lock will be closed till Fall.I think there's an alternate route. For some reason the New Orleans stretch is a little intimidating to us. Strong currents and a lot of barge traffic? We hate to bring the AC but I guess if we're in Texas in late April and May...

    Cruising the Gulf Coast

Thanks Roger. We'll definitely check out the Blog. We did the loop in 2008 and you might want to see my wife Linda's blog. We ran into a couple of Gales on the east coast also but it was a fun trip. The North channel and Georgian bay were probably our favorite areas. Alan...

    Cruising the Gulf Coast

We've cruised all the intracoastal except the stretch between Mobile and south Texas and we're thinking about cruising from Panama city to South Texas in early April. With the problems that have befallen the Gulf we're wondering if most facilities have been rebuilt and if fuel is readily...
