More on Navigation "apps" versus navigation electr

We agree. We don't buy paper charts anymore. The iPad is a great and reliable plotter. But we also have the old raymarine, the iPhone, a handheld...and some old paper charts.

Scuppers on the Tomcat (and 25)

Hi Roger, on our TC 24 the drains are a bit bigger if I am not mistaken. They are about 3" in diameter, and I use a tennis ball as a plug. They seem to drain the cockpit fairly well, but when we have a full load of fuel and a couple of folks in the cockpit the scuppers are just about at the...

    Tomcat 24 - specs

Yes we can seat four at the dinette, but we are not large people! The extra beam compared to the 22 makes for a much more spacious interior, especially the berth. Overall I think the 24 is a great boat. The first time I ran the boat it was the way the boat rode that most impressed me. We...

    Tomcat 24 - specs

Sorry, but I cannot comment on that as we do not tow the tomcat. We live in Bellingham and don't feel the need to tow because so much good water is just outside the harbor!

    Tomcat 24 - specs

Check the following site: tomcat-tales.blogspot.com. There is a link to the original tomcat 24 site. There is no shower in the 24 except for a cockpit raw wash down. The head is just in front of the helm and is a bit tight. However the layout is pretty spacious otherwise. We love our 24!

    One more grandchild!

Congrats on the addition. Our grandson was born with a major heart defect and he had surgery at 3 days old. He is now 5 and you would never know something was wrong. When he says "I want to go to the park grandpa," I know that I'm going to be sore for days. Grandkids are the best.

    Tug Nut/C-Brat Get Together

Wow, Able and Baker go back to the fifties. I was in grade school. When I went into the Navy in the sixties it was already Alpha, Bravo. Gee, now I feel much younger.

    Question about Raymarine/Raytheon Sportpilot

This is not a solution, but I found that when I replaced the sport pilot with a s1000 that I had much more room at the helm without that bulky device. Really much more room.

    Question about Raymarine/Raytheon Sportpilot

Sunbeam, unfortunately I tossed the old sport pilot when we switched to the s1000.

    Question about Raymarine/Raytheon Sportpilot

We had a sport pilot and no such problem. We did just replace it with a s1000 that operates with a remote.

    iPad loses gps position

I don't know if this has been discussed before but occasionally my iPad loses its gps fix using navionics. It's not an issue of receiving a signal because my iPhone works just fine. So far nothing serious yet but I almost lost a marker on a crab pot. The good news is that the solution is to...

    C-Dory Sightings

Saw a tc255 at gate 8 Squalicum Harbor. Name is crabbing around. Nice looking boat with a second helm in the cockpit. It's a transient, but that makes three tomcats at gate 8.
