    Refrigerator Opening Dimension

Control did not like salt water and parts impossible to find on this age. I am replacing with a frig freezer portable. Like my Son’s ARB. Can use in boat, RV and vehicle and get more use out of fixed boat one. Just one solution. A good one not cheap either.

    No sticking the windows

I have used wd40 as temporary solution. It is not a live. Then after moving used silicone spray to lub. Helped keep the salt out. I use heat for lots of stuff but would not for this. It is annoying problem. Good luck.

Effectiveness of handheld VHF when in dinghy or kayak

Height more important than power. I have used 2 mts gear in canoes with a 6’ antenna over the years successfully, since 1960s. Marine VH F has similar Properties. As a side comment boats that put there antennas tilted back to look cool are reducing effectiveness. Vertical is best. I also...

    23 VENTURE INFO REQUEST

Gary gave good answers. I know him from Friday Harbor event. Hope it comes off in 2021. My Venture 2006 has twin 50’s bought used. Remember hull is completely different than 22’ or 25’. Those are very fine boats too. The 23 does have A smoother ride most say. Mine came with twins and...

    Securing the anchor

going down the road I just heavy duty shock cork in addition to Lewmar windlass holding. Keeps it from shifting around. On water in good weather keep shock cord on. If bad remove it for quick deployment, never had had to do as we are fair weather sailors, but never know what weather or other...

Highway Towing With Bimini In Place

I have towed about 20,000 miles with Venture 23. Only first 10 with. up. To hard on equipment unless going to tow at 35 mph. I found not that big of deal to install before launch or of not sure I will need right away will put up when needed. My side curtains have only been use 3 times. Like...

    American Exceptionalism

I have pretty much lost touch with this race a cycle after the girls team lost the trials in Koch’s boat that Melgas as helmsman had won for him the CUP the previous race. Saw the girls team up close as they prepared for one of the run off races and on the course of San Diego. The grinders...

    Questions re hot surge brakes

All the answers posted are good. But, I will add my Magic Tilt Experience, which is mostly bad. I lived at 4400’ have to cross 10,000’ passes t get where I usually want to go. Going down 8% grades s the issue. Surge brakes are fine for flat landers and the adjustment on them is set by the...

Ford F150 or Toyota Tundra or ???

Had Tacoma then got Venture 23 and a Tundra 2017. We put about 5-7,000 Miles on towing per year. The 5.7L engine is great. Tows and handles well. We have 4wd as live in WY. Usually never need it on ramps unless wet and slippery. We have to tow over 10,000’ passes to get to Puget Sound...

Gas in Honda 50’s over winter

Every year this decision arises. I have two Honda Carb. 50’s Should I run gas out of engines before storage or leave it in? Have done both ways. I fill both tanks and stabilizer in the fuel that has worked for years. As no room for condensation. Covid for me means have only put 30 hours on...

Marine Survey giving "estimated market value"?

Complicated by market value vs insurable value. I plan ro sell my Venture 23 in spring I have no ideal what worth. C-brat lists askingbnot selling prices and no uniform condition. Equipment etc. Guess it is worth what someone will pay. Price can compare to new also. They are no accurate...

    fuel filling question

Mine pretty accurate. Run two 50 hp Honda’s one tank at time. Do distance cruising I fill wherever I can. We do Antacortes, WA to Desolation sound and beyond. You can remove gauges in tanks but must pull tanks out to lift them out. Do when low on fuel they are heavy. Then I set guages by...
