A Canadian going to the US on a boat from Canada

In the US, you may be boarded and inspected by any number of agencies. The FCC is not one of them. The other agencies don't enforce FCC policies. I'd worry more about proper safety equipment and ownership and insurance paperwork.

    Broughtons

Thanks Boris, for doing the math! I knew it was cheaper but didn't want to do the calculations. Thank goodness for Engineers like you. Once you've done the trip up through the rapids and Johnstone, there's no reason to do it again.

    Tomcat Hull Zincs?

There are no hull Zincs on the TC. The Zincs are on the engines, where the possibility of corrosion lies. I had Honda's which had 3 Zincs. Check your manual for Suzuki's Zinc location. Everything in the boat which uses the 12v ground system is protected through the engine ground and Zincs.

    Broughtons

I totally agree with Boris on towing to port McNeill. Have the customs agent stamp your passports so you have a record of entering the country. Everyone else will have a clearance number to verify their legal entry. The Passport stamp is your verification.

A CHRISTMAS STORY When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones and Santa began to feel the pre-Christmas pressure. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more. When he went to...

    Boat Transport

Many Brats have used Cory Gracey, Sharp Yacht Transport and raved about his service. He picked up our TomCat when we sold it and was in Ventura, CA the next day! I'm sure someone here will chime in with his number.

    honda generator question

Francisco, I don't believe the Honda has a battery as it is a pull-start design. They can be had for $ 949 at wise sales! http://www.wisesales.com/eu2000ia-honda ... fgodlGQA9w

Choice of Electric over hydraulic actuator

Bob, The Carlisle HydraStar works perfectly with the 2006 Ford built-in controller. No adapter needed. I mounted mine way up out of the way so it would stay dry.

    Floating Ground

When using a Honda 2000i Generator with our old TC, I used to get a ground fault warning on the BlueSeas panel. It didn't affect the operation but was a concern. On my RV owners site, I found out the reason and the cure. An easy fix. http://www.noshockzone.org/generator-gr ... al-bonding

Used C-Dory 22 or new Boston Whaler 190? Best for 1st boat?

There's night and day differences between an open Whaler and a cozy cabin boat like a C-Dory. I don't think there are any rivers or lakes around Dana Point so you're talking about open Ocean boating. Storms come up quickly out there and open boats can swamp. No contest in my opinion. Go for...
