    Garmin Nuvi with Nautical Charts

Lots of good info on the Garmin Nuvi. I have the 760 or 670 in the car and use it for audiobooks on the boat too. However, the Lowrance iFinder H20c is very cheap and you can buy the water charts discs for the entire continent for a hundred bucks. The iFinder has all the stores, coffee shops...

    electric trolling motors

fisherkb, We used to have huge stripers just outside Wichita, KS at Cheney Lake and still have some good sized ones at Wilson Lake and Lake Texoma at the OK, TX border. The guys who have always caught the most and the largest did not use down riggers, nor trolling motors as did I for many...

Tomcat owners, your checklist for winterization?

Georgs, On the TC 255's there is a round inspection port and a rectangular opening door to the battery shelf on each side. There is enough open space around the sides of the shelf to just pour down there. Maybe you have openings in the cockpit floor? Boats are usually designed so that any...

The Cruising Adventures of Wild Blue and crew...

Jim and Joan, Are you staying in the panhandle of Florida? ...or going back home to the Southern tip of Texas? It was colder in Florida lately than it was in Kansas! Today it is in the 70's and last night's low was in the 50's. Now... there is that cold front coming in tomorrow... oh...

    Window cleaner

A handy way to prevent inside fogging or mirror fogging is simply to use one of those skin creme bath soaps - you know , any common bath soap. You just make a lather and slather the lather onto the glass, then wipe it off with a DRY towel or paper towel. You have to leave a tiny bit of streaks...

    connecting Fuel tanks on tc255?

Gene, There is a detailed explanation of just such an improvement on a thread here somewhere which included photos. I am thinking Dr. Bob of Thataway was part of it, but someone up in the PNW also had done so. Try searching... I searched "fuel line crossover" and found the thread that...

    A Battery Question

Steve, You don't mention how much of the wiring was underwater. One big, delayed set of problems is caused by water getting into an insulated wire and migrating along the length, causing corrosion and increased resistance at odd spots along the way. I have purchased and rebuilt several sunken...

    Is CDory too light??

Paddy, I keep my C-Dory TomCat 255 at a huge, long lake in Oklahoma which is populated by thousands (yes that many) of go-fast, double V8 boats as well as many cruisers in the 35-100 foot range. BUT, I just spent two nights on the hook down there with a low of 26 degrees overnight and 50 ish...

outfitting a new 25 cruiser - help please!

I agreee that autopilot is a must for any distance cruising. Even 2-4 foot waves can tire the helmsman after an hour or so. Why not let the autopilot do all those repetitive corrections? I'd get an autopilot that has the knob you can turn to quickly dodge logs. As for inverters being...

A New Twist on the Honda E2000i Gererator

Warren, Congrats on getting the genset. I think you will enjoy it a great deal. To me, the decision was either a huge bank of batteries and electronics that I'd have to charge, maintain, etc., or just a couple of house batteries and a small genset. West Marine sells the marine twist lock to...

Tomcat owners, your checklist for winterization?

I do not know the latest, "official", Wallas priming instructions, but here is how I do it. The fuel supply hose is clear - you can see the level of the fuel in the hose and where the 'air' is. The fuel tank is clear and flexible and movable. I fill the fuel tank, put the lid with fuel supply...

How Many Days per Year Spent on Your C Dory?

Other than two annual vacations, I spend Thursday and Friday nights on the water, on the hook most of the year, 3 weeks a month (one weekend to work around town). Still, compared to all you "professionals" out there, that's only about 100 nites. I do anchor out until the night time temps get...

A New Twist on the Honda E2000i Gererator

Warren, I have purchased ALL the past options in order to find a combo that would work on the boat, on the field (farmwork, spraying, etc.) and for the farmhouse (2 combined gensets). I am anchored out right now, but somewhere at home I have all the instructions. I am pretty sure you can read...

A New Twist on the Honda E2000i Gererator

The Honda parallel connectors allow you to connect two gensets. The parallel connector yoke bolts rigidly to one of the gensets, allowing stable lock-in of the 30 amp boat plug. The power cord adapter of which you speak is a bit longer overall than the depth of the attached Honda yoke, so it...

Idea for bottom paint blocks while on trailer

Matt, You could check with the factory, but the reason the TomCat 255 is so heavy is all that structure between the hulls. I am confident a gentle jacking up of one side would not be any harder on the hulls than going headlong at speed in a 4 foot sea. Also, as someone has also mentioned...

A New Twist on the Honda E2000i Gererator

Don, The way they hook up, I am certain that as long as one has the 30 amp controller, the other will be OK. They just have these snap-in leads that connect to the yoke which isolates the input gensets. Just one isolator should isolate either genset or both. This new change is certainly a...

A New Twist on the Honda E2000i Gererator

Jim, It's been awhile since I read the instructions, but Yes, I think you need the 30 amp yoke to control the dual gensets. There is a diode or something in there to protect the gensets from one another. With this new model out, I am thinking you could buy that old yoke for less expense. John

Tomcat owners, your checklist for winterization?

Thanks Gene for the offer... you'd better be careful - someone might take you up on that! When I fish with my sons down off Galveston, they use crabs as bait!!! Live ones! The boys kept hollering at me to stop throwing their bait into the steampot on the Wallas! I am guessing you are around...

A New Twist on the Honda E2000i Gererator

Roger, That is good news. However, I hope anyone with the old design knows that you can buy that "yoke" for joining two 200i's and use it on only one genset. That, also will give you the 30 amp twist lock receptacle at the same amp output. That is what I have on my TomCat 255. John

Gene, Wow, that sounds like the way to go! Unfortunately all we have around here similar to crabs are crawdads! John
