There is a detailed explanation of just such an improvement on a thread here somewhere which included photos. I am thinking Dr. Bob of Thataway was part of it, but someone up in the PNW also had done so. Try searching...
I searched "fuel line crossover" and found the thread that discusses building a crossover "manifold" for the TomCat 255:

I'll try to find the thread with a search. We are having a banner crab season here. We had 51 crab for our seven pots on Sunday with a 3 hr soak. You're welcome to join us.

This was a common mod that EQ made when they were C-Dory dealers, and I had Stan (in the photo) make it to my boat as well. Let me know if you have any questions.
