Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

Ping pong ball type scuppers will only work in the older CD-25s where the scuppers exit from the transom. On the newer CD-25s, the scuppers exit from the sides and the ping pong ball type scuppers would be dragged through the water. Bill Edgewater, MD

Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

I don't know the grinding methodology. Cutter Marine took off a rough 1.5 inches on the latch side and the two narrow sides, nothing on the hinged side. It did make the hatch cover flatter and reduced leakage markedly. Bill Edgewater, MD

Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

The "grind down the covers" approach used by Cutter Marine (see my previous post on this thread) stopped the vast majority of of the leakage. I've already purchased (but not yet installed) a second bilge pump for the reasons Thataway has cited. The combination of ground down hatch covers...

Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

I've been there and suffered with the same problem. Part of the problem is scupper size but the larger problem is the installed check valves. See the following thread: "Scupper Check Valves on CD-25" It will describe the problem I was having with water in the cockpit and how I removed the...

Beware of Plastic Crud in Freshwater Tank.

I'm now aware of three 2007 CD-25s that have (or have had) recent fresh water pump problems. I noticed Wild Blue's post, my own boat, Barnacle Bill, and one other 2007 CD-25 I encountered over the weekend. Barnacle Bill's pump has, for the moment, taken a vitamin pill and gotten all its...

    Dielectric Silicon Grease Usage ???

Yesterday after running for about two hours my GPS turned itself off and my radio "blinked off and back on". This happened twice about fifteen minutes apart. I was almost home so I just turned them off. Both are the only items on the same 10 amp accessory switch. I figured I'd take the...

    06/08 - 06/10 - Chesapeake Bay 2007

We had a wonderful time meeting everyone and sharing experiences and knowledge. Saturday's entertainment was absolutely first rate and seeing George and Penny's Alaska expedition illustrated for us what a C-Dory could do. We really appreciate the solid planning and hard work done by the...

Beware of Plastic Crud in Freshwater Tank.

It was my understanding from Cutter Marine that the older models (whatever that means) didn't have filters and that filters were added because the pumps were biting the dust. Over the weekend I spoke to another 2007 owner whose pump had given up its last squirt. He had removed the pump and...

Beware of Plastic Crud in Freshwater Tank.

The input line seems rigid although it has become very hot out the past several days so that could make the hose softer. The problem occurs even when I disconnect the lines from the output side of the pump. It has occurred to me that the hose could be constricted by a bend. The opening to...

Beware of Plastic Crud in Freshwater Tank.

I ran a cable up the input hose that connects the freshwater tank to the pump. I think I ran it far enough to enter the tank and there was no difference in flow from that hose after having performed this operation. The pump runs long enough to build a head of pressure but can't maintain...

Beware of Plastic Crud in Freshwater Tank.

The freshwater system worked fine yesterday in the slip. Today I turned the water on and it petered out quickly. After calling Cutter Marine for tech advice, I removed the filter (held in by a difficult to see little ear) and then removed the filter holder from the input line. I'm so glad I...

Leak in Trim Tab Cylinder ???

Thanks for your post. You are correct, the fluid used in the reservoir is automatic transmission fluid. The leak is currently fairly small and the boat is under warranty. I've compiled a number of warranty items to be corrected, probably during the heat July. Bill Edgewater, MD

Leak in Trim Tab Cylinder ???

Bennett was specific in indicating there was a mechanism that provided protection if the pressure became too high. This response came after I asked if the pressures within the system were significantly higher as a result of being underway and in rough water. They may have used the words...

Leak in Trim Tab Cylinder ???

I was not able to perceive any fluid leakage from the starboard trim tab while in my slip moving the tabs up and down a number of times. Today I called Bennett Tabs about the leakage problem I seem to be having. A summary of the conversation follows: 1. The force within the hydraulic system...

    Leaking foredeck hatch deja vu

It's raining out and I just returned from my boat. My 2007 CD-25 has the same leakage problem around the hatch that Bob found on the Frequent Sea and on his Tomcat. The leakage is substantial. Earlier, on examining the inspection port over the fuel sender gauge I found no sign of epoxy (or...

My Turn to Discuss Transducer Issues

Probably not the answer but are there software upgrades that could be applied? Although performance now is night and day better than before I changed the setting to "Auto", when the depth finder "loses it" the reset time seems inordinate. I believe I'm either one or two versions behind the...

Leak in Trim Tab Cylinder ???

I'll have someone run the tabs up and down while I observe. In looking at the manual. I also need to check and see which model of trim tabs I have. In the case of my tabs, the connection to the actuator is buried inside the transom. In looking at Bennett's installation instructions, on...

Leak in Trim Tab Cylinder ???

We were in some two-three foot waves yesterday and had the tabs at 100% for much of the time (2-3 hrs). Upon returning to the slip there were some globules of black gunk in the bilge and the precoiled hose I store under the starboard cockpit hatch felt oily. This had not been the case when I...

    bilge pump

What is the model number and does it turn on manually? If it turns on manually, you know at least that the pump motor is working. In terms of the automatic feature, first check to be sure current is getting to the pump. I believe the automatic feature uses a different current source than the...

How did he find the problem?

I make this post with some trepidation as I suspect some of the other folks have far more sophisticated methodologies for finding unwanted electrical drains, but this method has been useful for me. I'd much prefer a volt based than an amp based method, but I can't see any other way to do this...
