Prop suggestions for 150 HP on the CD 25

I'm running the same prop with good results. My backup prop is a 13" pitch. It will only be used if the 15" is damaged, or when I'm at places like Lake Tahoe(6200 feet) or when I have an unusually large group of guests on board.

    C-Shanty Finally in the Water

Seabran, yes, I'd like to meet up sometime. I have a lot of time in the Delta, but have been away from it since the mid 90s. I go through Brentwood fairly often on my way to Rio Vista. It is a longer trip, but I get tired of the freeway route. Don (and Mary)

    C-Shanty Finally in the Water

Rogerbum, thanks for the reply. Sounds like you have worked out a good system. I'll give it a try. I have plenty of long lines. Don (and Mary)

    C-Shanty Finally in the Water

We finally took possession of the C-Shanty on the Friday before Memorial Day. Picked it up in Oakland, Ca., and dragged it (on the trailer) to Rio Vista. Slips at Delta Marina are hard to come by this time of year, so when an opening came up in February I took it. Kinda strange paying for an...

    Kicker?

I played around with a short shaft kicker on a Bayliner 27 a few years ago. Slightly longer boat than a 25 CD, but narrower. Similar wetted area and weight. More V to the hull, though. The kicker needs to have the cavitation plate and prop low enough to get a free flow of water off the bottom...

Anyone going to the factory this week?

Anyone going to the factory this week?

Did anyone happen to see ours?

Anyone going to the factory this week?

David, if you happen to see our boat on Friday, perhaps you could snap a few pics. It went to the finish shop last week and is supposed to be completed next week. (delayed from original estimated completion date) It is a gray 25 Cruiser. Has swim platform and an auxiliary helm station, no...

    now THAT'S a following sea

You can see the course I like to follow. Calm wind and slack tide helps, also. I have been known to "surf" the big rollers coming back in, but not when they are breaking. Never with anyone else on board, either.

    25 cruiser fuel consumption?

Check out the thread, "Forced upgrade from Honda 135 to 150" in this section. It's by Anna Leigh. I think it is the ninth post in that thread. It has a copy of a recent test with a Honda 150 on a 25 CD, with RPM, Speed GPH and MPG. Amazingly economical.

    Anyone visiting the factory soon.

Great, Pat. Ours was supposedly being fitted with cabinetry this week. Supposed to hit the road South next week sometime. Love to see some pics. Thanks, Don Irvine

Your first time in a C-Dory.

I had not actually seen a C-Dory until late Jan. '05 at the Pleasonton, Ca.(bay area) boat show. Pictures, yes, a real boat, no. We had sold our Sea Ray in San Diego, before coming back to Norcal in October. All we had left was our 12' Achilles. That had to be rectified. I expected to buy a...

    Dogon re-boating, not de-boating

Dan, congrats on the move up. Hope another buyer turns up soon. I just missed making it to Fairbanks in '67. I believe it was in August. We had just come out of the Mt. McKinley Park area(caribou hunting) after days and days of rain. The Susitna was near flood stage when we went in, and the...

    Critter Corner

Yep, they are pretty much low maintenance. You might have to occasionally cut a hole in the ice, where you live, though.

    Critter Corner

The Catguin was developed after many years of looking for two compatable species which would produce a superior hybrid. It is considered particularly well suited to the boating life. Among its attributes: 1. Compatable diet. Both parent species love fish. 2. Unlike most pets, the Catguin...

    Critter Corner

I have been searching for the perfect pet for a C-Dory. Finally found one. Have not located a breeder yet, though... They must be rare.

Forced upgrade from Honda 135 to 150

Pat, our dealer is a bit strange in that they go by two corporate names. Their newest is "Seapower Marine." They apparently like to maintain their ties to their past by also using,"The Outboard Motor Shop" (dating back to 1926)on both their cards and signage. Despite the apparent...

Forced upgrade from Honda 135 to 150

Pat, if you saw a gray 25 cruiser with a swim platform, an auxiliary helm station, radar arch w/rocket launchers, and no engines,(they will be installed at our Bay Area dealer) it was ours. Don and Mary Irvine

Forced upgrade from Honda 135 to 150

Gotjm3, I also had a copy of the Prop Test. Like you, I was surprised that the 4500rpm "sweet spot" gave better MPG than the ones at 3500 and 4000. Typically, planing hulls get the highest MPG at the lower displacement speeds, then drop quickly when the boat struggles to get up on a plane...
