I have the same model on my 2005 CD25. There are 2 "thingies" on the front of the unit with wires going to them. One is pretty obviously the heating element (part #73129); the other is the "hi-limit" thermostat part (#74563). It is the thermostat that tells the heater when the water is hot...

There's no getting around it.....you've got to rinse off the windows with fresh water before you clean them. I use a sponge in a bucket of fresh water; splash/smear a bunch of fresh water on the window; remove the water with a squeegee; and finally clean up any water residue with a paper towel...

ken35216, I tend to get something like your 2.7 MPG (statue miles) when mixing some hull speed with some planing. I doubt I would ever get close to 3.0, much less over 3.0, if I were mostly planing (BTW, I tend to run 18 to 22 MPH when planing). It may depend a lot on how loaded the boat...
